Things to do in Curaçao

Grote Knip, the most beautiful beach in Curaçao!

  • Grote Knip: A beach destination located on the western side of the island. Here you will find clear turquoise waters, great for snorkeling or scuba diving! Trust me, you won’t want to leave this place. The kids loved this area, as there were a few spots for cliff-jumping. The views are stunning, too. You can also find yummy food trucks in this area. There’s also a spot down on the beach for grabbing fast sandwiches and drinks.

  • Hato Caves: This is a short excursion or visit and is worth seeing. A tour guide will take you around during the visit. There are stairs to walk up, but it’s not too easy if you’re older.

  • Willemstad: The largest capital of Curaçao. This is where you will see the famous colorful buildings—it’s beautiful crossing the bridge and seeing them. You’ll also find many shops and restaurants here.

  • Cas Abao Beach: This beach is located northwest of Willemstad and has crystal-clear waters. It’s very laid-back, with a dive shop and snack bar. We found jet skis on the beach, too.

  • Playa Porto Marie: I loved this beach. Here, you will see pigs when they aren’t too shy to come out and swim. There is a restaurant and shop on this beach, which get crowded; however, the beach is right there, so you can visit both. It’s a must-see, and the crystal-clear waters are beautiful. It’s a one-stop shop, offering food, shopping, and a beautiful beach.

  • Mambo Beach: This place is a must-see. There’s a beach with tons of restaurants and shops. Here, you will also find water sports, but during peak season, it’s very crowded—you must book any excursions ahead of time if you can. It’s a very touristy spot, with tons of shops, restaurants, and beach bars.

  • Daaibooi Beach: This is a beautiful and quiet beach known for its snorkeling. I went to this spot because it was so close to my hotel. It’s more secluded—but so beautiful—here.

  • Playa Lagun: Here you will find a beach cove surrounded by cliffs. It’s very pretty, and when I went there, I saw huge crabs on the rocks, as well as lambs walking along the cliffs. There are many restaurants here with breathtaking views.

Places to eat & drink in Curaçao

Restaurant Playa Forte, where you'll find the best views, food, and cliff-jumping

  • Bocas Restaurant: This restaurant overlooks Mambo Beach and serves amazing Argentinian-inspired food. The drinks were very good, and the food was top-notch for Caribbean food.

  • Playa Porto Mari: This restaurant is on Porto Marie Beach. It has great food, and since it’s located right on the beach, you can swim after eating. It offers a great mix of food for everybody’s liking.

  • Restaurant Playa Forte: The view, food, and scenery are amazing here. You can go cliff-jumping at the restaurants, which is a bonus. It’s very popular and gets pretty packed. The restaurant offers a wide variety of food, from seafood to meat.

  • The Old Market: A local told us about this area—it’s where all the locals come for authentic Curaçao food. There are a bunch of restaurants under one roof. It’s indoor-outdoor, with lots of lunch tables. We ordered seafood and soup, which the whole family enjoyed.

Need to know

Recommendations for the island

  • Book a car or SUV to get around the island. Curaçao is a super easy island to get around—and it's safe.

  • Doing your own excursions, like snorkeling, is doable. It's easy to book your own excursions online.

  • Book a boat tour to elevate your experience and see the best beaches on the island.

  • Plan ahead for excursions and boat tours! Booking a photographer is a must—and it’s a super fun way to see the city.

  • Bring cash just in case, but most places take cards and tap payment.

Overall, Curaçao is an amazing island to tour.
