Advisor - Paris with Kids: Baguettes, Berets & Baby Buggies
Curator’s statement

Paris isn't just for honeymooners and art lovers — it's a wonderland for families, too. Living here with my kids, I’ve discovered secret playgrounds tucked behind museums, restaurants that welcome strollers with open arms and enough carousels to make your head spin (literally). This guide is your shortcut to a trip full of charm, croissants and zero meltdowns — well, almost.

Things to do in Paris

Jardin du Luxembourg: Where Parisian kids go to play — and tourists forget the Louvre exists

• Jardin du Luxembourg — Pony rides, vintage carousel, toy sailboats and the best playground in Paris.

• Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle — Giant dinosaur skeletons and a dazzling insect zoo = guaranteed awe.

• Jardin d’Acclimatation — Old-school amusement park meets charming Parisian picnic vibes.

• Seine River Cruise (Bateaux Mouches) — Sit back and let the kids spot landmarks. Bonus: they can’t run off.

• Parc des Buttes-Chaumont — A fairy-tale park with suspension bridges, waterfalls and hilltop temples.

• Marionette shows (Guignol!) — Traditional puppet theater at Luxembourg or Champ de Mars.

• Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie — Paris’ giant science museum is an interactive heaven for curious minds.

• Picnic by the Eiffel Tower — Pack a baguette and watch the sparkle show at night. Paris magic 101.

• Montmartre Train Ride — A mini tourist train that makes Montmartre fun for little legs.

• Tuileries Garden & Carousel — Sculptures, playgrounds and a little carnival in summer.

Places to eat & drink in Paris

Cheers to many return trips to Paris!

  • Chez Janou – Lively, Provençal and forgiving of wiggly children.

  • Café de Flore – Iconic and surprisingly kid-welcoming, with hot chocolate that doubles as dessert.

  • Le Relais de l’Entrecôte – Steak frites for all! No menu = no overthinking.

  • Berthillon – Historic ice cream on Île Saint-Louis. Bribery tool of champions.

  • Crêperie Brocéliande (Montmartre) – Family-run, charming and crepes for days.

  • Pink Mamma – Trendy, spacious and always a hit with older kids and teens.

  • Du Pain et des Idées – Grab pastries and head to Canal Saint-Martin for a stroller-friendly stroll.

  • Loulou Paris – Gorgeous terrace, kid’s menu and museum-side location at the Louvre.

Need to know

Paris loves children, but many restaurants and hotels expect polite, well-dressed little diners — think more baguette than chicken nugget.

• Strollers: Paris sidewalks can be narrow and cobbled. A compact stroller or baby carrier is best.

• Bathrooms: Not always free or easy to find. Carry coins and know where the McDonald’s are.

• Metro tips: Use line 1 (automated) for stroller-friendly access, or skip and Uber when possible. And never, ever take the Metro from the airport. A flat-fare taxi or Uber is well worth every cent!

• Weather: Always pack a light raincoat, sunscreen and layers — Paris is moody.

• Timing: Most attractions open late (10–11 am), so enjoy slow mornings with pastries and people-watching.
