Advisor - London Style Guide: Where Style Meets the Streets
Curator’s statement

Harrods and Selfridges often top first-time visitors shopping lists, and for good reason. Their iconic status and immersive, almost theme park-like approach to retail make them destinations in their own right. But to truly experience what makes London’s shopping scene special, I prefer to wander beyond the grand department stores and into the city’s neighborhoods. Exploring local boutiques and street lined shops reveals the rich diversity and distinct character that define London’s style and culture.

Things to do in London

New Bond Street

Exploring New Bond Street reads like a who’s who of luxury fashion, where flagship boutiques host ever-changing pop-ups and immersive installations featuring exclusive, one-of-a-kind pieces. Plan ahead by checking the calendars of houses like Dior, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton to catch the latest experiences. For bespoke accessories and tailored fashion, continue on to Old Bond Street in Mayfair and explore the refined elegance of the Royal Arcade’s specialty shops.

Dover Street Market

Dover Street Market is for avant-garde fashion lovers. Each floor feels like a curated gallery, part retail and part art installation, where everything on display is for sale. Be sure to stop on the fifth floor for a scone and tea at the Rose Bakery café, where you’ll find yourself surrounded by fashion insiders and emerging stylists.

Camden Town

Camden Town is unlike anywhere else in the world, a vibrant and eclectic hub. At Camden Market, you’ll discover truly unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, from handcrafted jewelry to bold statement accessories; many of my most treasured earrings have come from these local artisan stalls. Take a break at Pick & Cheese for a memorable tasting experience. Their conveyor belt of perfectly paired local cheeses is as enjoyable as it is delicious. Then dive back in, ready to uncover your next great find.

Portobello Road Market

Portobello Road Market is a shopping weekend essential and well worth the bustling crowds. Stretching through the heart of Notting Hill, each turn offers a sensory mix of vibrant colors, street sounds, and irresistible food stalls. For those with an eye for history, the antique arcades are a treasure trove, filled with vintage finds and timeless estate pieces waiting to be discovered.

Places to eat & drink in London

Dishoom

Dishoom has now become a London staple where reservations are strongly recommended, but absolutely worth the effort. Inspired by the vibrant flavors of Bombay, the menu pairs richly spiced dishes with expertly crafted cocktails, all served in a setting that’s as stylish as it is nostalgic.

Mercato Mayfair

For something trend-forward, head to Mercato Mayfair, a beautifully reimagined food hall set inside a historic church. With curated vendors, ambient lighting, and a fashion forward crowd, it’s quickly become a go to spot for those in the know.

Opium Cocktail & Dim Sum Parlour

Opium Cocktail & Dim Sum Parlour is a hidden speakeasy tucked away in Chinatown, known for some of the city’s most inventive cocktails. Skip the queues downstairs and settle in upstairs, where you can pair expertly crafted drinks with exceptional dim sum. The atmosphere is equal parts refined and effortlessly cool, making it a perfect late-night stop in London’s fashion circuit.

St. Christopher’s Place

St. Christopher’s Place is a hidden gem just off Oxford Street and easy to miss unless you spot the lamppost and slip down its tucked-away alley, reminiscent of a scene from a Harry Potter story. Inside, you’ll find a charming enclave of boutiques and cafés that feels worlds away from the bustle. Settle in for a boozy brunch at Harry’s Marylebone and don’t miss the truffle pasta.

Need to know

Bicester Village is the perfect day trip from London, offering a curated luxury shopping experience set against the charm of the English countryside. Home to an array of designer boutiques and elevated outlet finds, in an open-air, village-style setting.

Book a neighborhood tour with a local guide who can enhance your local shopping experience and uncover hidden gems. Ask your advisor to help find some amazing off-the-beaten-path tours.
