Day 1: Arrive in Rome & enjoy a traditional Roman dinner

Benvenuti a Roma! After you arrive in Rome and settle in at your hotel, take a leisurely stroll to Piazza della Repubblica, where you'll be greeted by grand architecture and the stunning Fountain of the Naiads. This bustling square is the perfect introduction to the city’s vibrant energy.

For dinner, immerse yourself in Roman cuisine at Ristorante Alessio, known for its hearty pasta dishes, or Rimessa Roscioli, where traditional flavors meet a contemporary twist. Both spots offer an authentic taste of the city and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

After your meal, enjoy a relaxed walk to Piazza Barberini to see the Fontana del Tritone beautifully illuminated against the night sky. The soft glow of the fountain creates a magical atmosphere, perfect for soaking in the romance and history of Rome on your first night.

Day 2: Ancient landmarks & the Trevi Fountain

Explore ancient Rome and iconic landmarks! Start your day by stepping back in time with a guided tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. You’ll be led through the impressive ruins, sharing stories of gladiators, emperors and the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. Take a short walk to Taverna dei Fori Imperiali for a well-deserved lunch. This family-run restaurant is loved for its traditional dishes and cozy atmosphere. Once you’ve refueled, make your way to Capitoline Hill for breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Explore the historic Piazza Venezia and admire the imposing Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, known as the “Wedding Cake” for its grand, white marble design. Continue your walk to the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved ancient buildings in Rome, and marvel at its awe-inspiring dome and oculus.

As the day winds down, head to the iconic Trevi Fountain and toss a coin to ensure your return to Rome. Just a short walk away, the Spanish Steps await, where you can climb to the top and watch the sunset over the city’s rooftops. End your evening with a hearty meal at Hostaria Romana, where classic Roman dishes and a welcoming ambiance make for the perfect conclusion to your second day in the Eternal City.

Day 3: Discover Vatican City and the Charm of Trastevere

Begin your day with a spiritual highlight: attending Mass with the Pope at St. Peter’s Basilica. Check the schedule in advance for exact times and entry requirements, and make sure to arrive early to secure a good spot. Participating in this unique experience is both moving and unforgettable, offering a deeper connection to the heart of the Vatican.

Afterwards, spend your afternoon immersed in the splendor of Vatican City: the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. Be prepared for a truly awe-inspiring experience that may take 4-5 hours as you navigate through vast galleries, admire Michelangelo’s masterpieces and stand in wonder beneath the dome of St. Peter’s.

After the tour, treat yourself to lunch at Il Sorpasso, a nearby gem known for its creative dishes and relaxed ambiance. Once recharged, take a 10-minute walk to Castel Sant’Angelo. Originally built as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian, it later became a papal fortress and residence. Climb to the top for panoramic views of Rome and the Vatican.

As the sun sets, cross the Tiber River into the vibrant, bohemian neighborhood of Trastevere. Wander through its charming cobblestone streets lined with ivy-clad buildings and bustling trattorias. Visit the historic Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the oldest churches in Rome, known for its glittering mosaics. Let the lively atmosphere and local flair of Trastevere draw you in for a relaxed evening filled with music, conversation and the true spirit of Roman life.

Day 4: Aventine Hill & souvenir shopping

On Day 4, make your way to the charming Aventine Hill. Wander through the peaceful gardens and seek out the famous Knights of Malta Keyhole. Peering through, you’ll discover a perfectly framed view of St. Peter’s Basilica.

After taking in the view, head to Caffè Canova Tadolini for lunch. This unique café, once a sculptor’s studio, is filled with classical statues and artistic history, creating a truly atmospheric dining experience. Savor a leisurely meal while surrounded by art and stories from Rome’s past.

Don’t forget to visit nearby boutiques or local artisan shops to pick up a few souvenirs - whether it’s handmade leather goods, unique jewelry or classic Roman keepsakes to remember your trip.

As you head to your next destination, take with you the memories of Rome's history, flavors and unforgettable charm!

Need to know

Rome is full of energy, so be ready for lots of walking on cobblestones - comfortable shoes are a must! The weather can change, so pack layers. Book popular attractions like the Colosseum and Vatican in advance to skip the lines. Embrace slow dining - it’s part of the Italian experience. Carry some cash, as smaller shops may not accept cards, and learn a few basic Italian phrases to connect with locals. Finally, many churches require modest attire, so bring a scarf or shawl for cover. Fai buon viaggio!
