Advisor - A Romantic Week in Cartagena, Colombia
Curator’s statement

Cartagena had been at the top of my list for years, and it exceeded every expectation. I first experienced it with my husband, and its magic was so undeniable that we returned the following year with our children. There is something profoundly special about this city. Vibrant yet intimate, intense yet timeless, Cartagena lingers with you long after you leave.

Things to do in Cartagena, Colombia

Meeting a beautiful Palenquera, a living symbol of strength, heritage, and Caribbean pride.

  • Wander the cobblestone street of the old town, letting the colors and balconies guide you. Take a break and have coffee at Epoca Café, my favorite coffee shop in the old town.

  • Enjoy a cocktail at the iconic Cafe Del Mar, perfectly perched to watch the sunset. Or try the world-famous Alquimico bar for an amazing cocktail (great indoors and a vibrant rooftop).

  • Explore the vibrant neighborhood of Getsemani, where street art and local energy bring the walls to life. Make a reservation for lunch or dinner at the amazing Celele restaurant, my favorite restaurant in Cartagena.

  • Take a boat trip to one of the nearby Rosario Islands and spend the day swimming in crystalline waters and relax on white-sand beaches.

  • Take a sunset cruise on the beautiful Bona Vida catamaran (from 5–7 pm), where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset, drinks, and snacks with the Cartagena skyline in the background.

  • Shop in the city's many beautifully curated boutiques, then pause along the way to savor one of Cartagena's most iconic street foods: arepas con queso.

Need to know

I recommend visiting Cartagena from December to April for the best weather. A five-day trip is ideal to explore the old town, enjoy nearby beaches and islands, and experience the city's amazing restaurants and bars.
