Curator’s statement
Madrid has completely shifted the game for romance travel. It’s no longer just about the loud nightlife in Chueca (though that’s fun)—the city has mastered what I call “inclusive luxury.” I love sending queer couples here because you get that rare mix of high-end polish and total psychological safety—you can be openly affectionate in a 5-star lobby or a local tapas bar and feel celebrated, not just tolerated. This itinerary is about finding that sweet spot: the heritage of the Prado, the “cool” of the emerging neighborhoods, and the sexiest dining scene in Europe right now.

Day 1: Salamanca & rooftop relaxation

Bless Hotel Madrid
Land and head straight to the Salamanca district. Most tourists rush to the crowded center, but I prefer starting you here on the "Golden Mile" to set a more upscale, relaxed tone.
Check into Bless Hotel and head immediately to the Picos Pardos Sky Lounge. It’s one of the few rooftops in this zip code with an emerald pool and Balinese beds, which is my favorite cure for jet lag.
For dinner, we are booking Numa Pompilio. Ask for a table in the rear garden—it feels like a secret baroque villa hidden in the middle of the city, and it is hands-down the most romantic table in town.

A note from Johnny
Insider tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of booking dinner at 7 pm; you will be eating alone. In Madrid, the vibe doesn't start until 9:30 pm, so embrace the siesta culture.
Day 2: Prado Museum & spa day

Prado Musseum
Today isn’t just about seeing art— it’s about seeing your history. I always recommend the private “The Other’s Gaze” itinerary at the Prado Museum, which highlights same-sex love and gender non-conformity in classic works—it’s a powerful experience that standard tours completely miss.
Afterward, balance the culture with some hedonism. Even if you aren’t staying there, pop into the URSO Hotel & Spa for a hydrotherapy circuit to recharge.
Tonight, we’re doing extreme privacy: dinner at Bodega de los Secretos, where you dine in 17th-century underground wine caves. It’s intimate, quiet, and perfect for a honeymoon escape.
Day 3: Into the real Madrid

Sala Equis Madrid
Let’s get you out of the “posh” zone and into the real Madrid. Spend the morning in Salesas (also called Justicia)—it’s the fashion-forward, younger sibling to Chueca and currently the coolest neighborhood for shopping and coffee.
If you want something grittier and more bohemian, wander down to Lavapiés, which has become the hub for the city’s lesbian and alternative scene.
For your last night, we have to get you into Los 33. It is the hardest reservation to score right now (a sexy Spanish-Uruguayan grill), but the vibe is unmatched.
End the night at Sala Equis—it used to be an adult cinema, but now it’s a gorgeous, plant-filled cocktail bar where you can sip drinks in the old theater seats. It’s a great story to take home.
Need to know
A note on geography: Chueca is iconic and arguably the world’s most famous gay district, but it is loud and intense. That is why I usually position you in hotels just on the border—close enough to walk to the drag shows at Black & White, but far enough away to sleep in peace.
Also, unless you want a massive party, I’d avoid late June/early July during Madrid Pride (MADO) for a romantic honeymoon. It attracts 2 million people and hotel prices triple. Spring or autumn is a much better value.
