Curator’s statement
For families craving elevated escapes without sacrificing connection or comfort, Los Cabos delivers every time. It’s been our go-to retreat since my honeymoon days — now, with two kids in tow, each trip reminds me how magical (and luxurious!) family and especially multi-generational travel can be. From world-class spas and Michelin-worthy dining to vibrant kids’ clubs and thoughtful touches in between, I’ve uncovered resorts that redefine what a family vacation looks like. These three properties are more than just a place to stay — they’re the starting point for unforgettable memories, no matter your age, where every family member feels seen, spoiled and inspired. Where luxury meets legacy — let’s craft a tradition your family will crave.

Things to do in Los Cabos

San José del Cabo Gallery District
1. Standout kids’ & teen clubs at Chileno Bay, Grand Velas and One&Only Palmilla.
Let’s be real — not all kids’ and teen clubs are created equal. Too often, they feel like a sad afterthought. What differentiates these resorts’ kids & teen programming is their thoughtful design, creative use of space and intentional approach to catering to their littlest guests. Each program goes far beyond the basics, with immersive experiences tailored to inspire and entertain. From sports and beach games to cultural crafts, movie nights and storytelling, these clubs blend fun with meaningful enrichment — giving parents peace of mind while kids and teens make their own unforgettable memories.
2. Spa & wellness rooted in Baja tradition
Have you ever been to a spa and afterwards felt “meh?” I am willing to bet you won’t find those mediocre experiences at any of these resorts. At Chileno Bay, wellness begins with grounding rituals in a serene bathhouse, where regional herbs and ancestral traditions set the tone for restoration. One&Only Palmilla blends ancient Mexican healing with modern luxury — think energy cleanses and holistic therapies rooted in Baja’s natural elements. Grand Velas Los Cabos offers deeply immersive experiences, from hydrotherapy rituals to treatments inspired by ancient Mexican ceremonies. Rooted in tradition and designed with intention, these spa rituals are more than rest — they’re shared moments that honor the land, the culture and the people you’re traveling with.
3. Beach day & water activities
Not all beaches in Los Cabos are swimmable, due to strong currents and unpredictable surf — something many first-time visitors don’t realize. Fortunately, both Chileno Bay Resort and One&Only Palmilla sit on two of the region’s most beloved swimmable beaches: Playa El Chileno and Playa Palmilla. Each resort offers direct beach access and complimentary non-motorized water sports like paddle-boarding and snorkeling. Prefer a more relaxed pace? Arrange for a private beach setup where your kids can build sandcastles while you enjoy a margarita — or two.
4. Golf with a view
If hitting the fairway is part of your perfect getaway, you’re in luck. One&Only Palmilla offers access to the legendary 27-hole Palmilla Golf Club by Jack Nicklaus, while Chileno Bay offers guests exclusive access to Tom Fazio-designed Chileno Bay Golf & Beach Club. Grand Velas doesn’t have an on-site course but is conveniently located near several of Los Cabos’ best, with concierge-arranged tee times and packages. Scenic, challenging and always worth it — especially when followed by a cold margarita.
5. Snorkeling & marine wildlife encounters
For families who love a bit of adventure with their ocean views, a snorkeling excursion is a must. If you are at Chileno Bay Resort, just walk outside to the perfect snorkeling spot, which is perfect for kids, thanks to the shallow, protected waters. Another option is to head to Santa Maria Bay for calm, crystal-clear waters teeming with marine life — or charter a luxury yacht to explore the Sea of Cortez. Think reef snorkeling, dolphin sightings and maybe even a sea turtle or two.
6. San José del Cabo Art Walk
If you're in town between November and June, make time for the Thursday night Art Walk in San José’s charming Gallery District. The streets around Plaza Mijares come alive with local art, live music and an easygoing, family-friendly vibe. It’s a fun way to soak up culture — even little ones will enjoy the street performers. Grab dinner nearby at favorites like La Lupita Taco & Mezcal or Habanero’s Gastro Grill. Pro tip: Bring pesos — some of the best local bites come from the kiosks around the square, serving up homemade favorites like tamales and tacos. And don’t skip the just-fried churros — they’re absolutely worth the wait!
Places to eat & drink in Los Cabos

Flora Farm Farmarita
San Jose del Cabo
Three distinctly different farm-to-table experiences:
Rustic charm at Flora Farms
Flora Farms has been a part of our Cabo tradition for nearly 15 years. Our family loves engaging all five senses as we explore this vibrant, hands-on organic farm. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the farm-to-table food and cocktails. Their experiences shift with the seasons, so take a peek at the current calendar before your visit.Lush, moody vibes at Acre Restaurant & Treehouse Bar
For a more grown-up and sexy vibe set in a jungle oasis, head to Acre. The sleek and playful yet upscale escape earned a Michelin Green Star for its commitment to sustainability. While it’s not strictly adults-only (we brought our kids, ages two and seven, and still felt welcomed), the overall atmosphere leans moody and sophisticated — think lantern-lit pathways, lush greenery and creative cocktails under the palms.Mexican heritage with a Mediterranean twist at Tamarindos
Set in a historic 19th-century farmhouse surrounded by organic fields, Tamarindos brings an old-world feel with a strong sense of place. The cuisine is rooted in Mexican tradition with Mediterranean touches, a nod to its founder’s Northern Mexico roots. This is a fun choice for food enthusiasts and families — especially if you're eager to participate in a hands-on cooking class before dinner.
Cabo San Lucas
Cocina de Autor at Grand Velas
Parents — drop the kids at the Grand Velas Kids’ Club, which stays open impressively late (until 11 pm!), and treat yourself to a Michelin-starred, multi-course experience that blurs the line between art and gastronomy. For Grand Velas guests, the tasting menu is included in your all-inclusive stay. Non-resort guests can also enjoy this experience for an additional fee; advance reservations are required. The Office on the Beach
This spot has become a fun tradition for our family every time we visit Cabo San Lucas. The lively and colorful ambiance makes it a fan-favorite. Come for the toes-in-the-sand dining, stay for the people-watching and playful energy. It’s not fancy, but it’s full of character.El Merkado
Looking for something low-key but still full of local flavor? Head to El Merkado, a vibrant food hall in San José with over a dozen casual eateries under one roof. Everyone can find something they love, from fresh ceviche and tacos to wood-fired pizza and craft gelato. Bonus: there's space for kids to roam while you linger over mezcal or a Baja brew.
Need to know
Don't overplan. Some of our favorite Cabo moments happened between the big things — watching our kids build sand castles and look for sealife at Playa El Chileno, sharing fresh churros during the Art Walk or catching golden hour by the pool with nowhere else to be. Leave space in your itinerary for spontaneity — it’s often where the real magic lives.
Also, bring pesos to support the hardworking vendors at local markets and beaches, and book at least one experience led by a local (like a tortilla-making class or a fishing morning in La Playita). It’ll give your family a deeper connection to the place and people.
