Day 1: Arrival & sunset at JOIA

Arrive at Queen Beatrix International Airport and transfer to JOIA Aruba by Iberostar, which makes an excellent home base for exploring Palm Beach while still feeling calm and polished.
After settling in, take some time to walk the beach or pool deck to ease into the island’s rhythm before the evening. I recommend starting the trip with sunset drinks on site at ZIMA; the golden light and relaxed atmosphere make it a memorable first evening.
If you need supplies for the week, consider stopping at Super Food Plaza earlier in the day for global snacks and unique drinks for the week.

A note from Jennifer
Aruba sunsets are spectacular, so plan your first evening around them rather than rushing into a full dinner schedule.
Day 2: Catamaran sailing & Palm Beach nightlife

Start the morning with a catamaran snorkeling excursion, one of Aruba’s most enjoyable experiences. Most tours stop at the Antilla shipwreck and nearby turtle snorkeling areas, offering calm water, clear visibility, and beautiful views of the coastline from the boat.
After returning, spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach or pool at JOIA. Palm Beach is ideal for swimming and low-key beach lounging.
In the evening, explore Palm Beach’s nightlife scene, which is lively but approachable, with outdoor bars, live music, and plenty of places to wander between.

A note from Jennifer
Book the morning sailing slot if possible. Seas tend to be calmer, and the snorkeling visibility is usually better earlier in the day.
Day 3: Resort hopping & downtown Aruba

Today is a good opportunity to see a different side of the island by visiting some of Aruba’s notable resorts.
Start with a visit to Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, located in the colorful downtown area of Oranjestad. The marina setting and nearby shops give it a different atmosphere from Palm Beach, and it’s an interesting place to walk around, even if you’re not staying there.
Later in the afternoon, stop by Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino for a drink or to explore the beachfront and casino.

A note from Jennifer
Aruba is small and easy to navigate, so visiting a few resorts gives you a better feel for the island’s different vibes.
Day 4: A classic Aruba breakfast & a great night out

Begin the day with breakfast at Linda’s Dutch Pancakes, a longtime Palm Beach favorite known for its extensive pancake menu.
Afterward, return to JOIA for a beach or pool day, which is one of the best ways to enjoy Aruba’s consistently sunny weather and calm waters.
In the evening, head to dinner at AZAR Open Fire Cuisine, where the open-fire cooking and energetic atmosphere make it one of the island’s standout restaurants.
After dinner, visit a boutique speakeasy-style cocktail bar before continuing to explore the Palm Beach bar scene.

A note from Jennifer
Reservations are recommended at AZAR, particularly during busy seasons.
Day 5: Coffee, beach time & a farewell dinner

Ease into the final day with coffee at Santos Coffee with Soul, a small café that offers excellent espresso drinks and a quieter atmosphere.
Spend the afternoon enjoying a final swim or beach walk before getting ready for your last evening.
For a memorable closing dinner, book a table at Sunset Grille, located at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino. The restaurant is known for classic steakhouse dishes, attentive service, and a polished setting that feels fitting for the last night of a trip.

A note from Jennifer
Request a reservation around sunset if possible; the timing makes the experience even more memorable.
Need to know
A few practical things can make an Aruba trip noticeably smoother. Aruba is outside the hurricane belt and has reliably sunny weather year-round, but the sun is extremely strong, so sun protection is essential even on breezy days. Many restaurants and popular excursions book up during peak season, so reservations are worth making a few days in advance, especially for places like AZAR Open Fire Cuisine and Sunset Grille.
Transportation is straightforward, but if you are not renting a car at the airport, arrange transfers ahead of time. A quick stop at Super Food Plaza early in the trip is helpful for stocking up on water, snacks, and breakfast items. U.S. dollars are widely accepted across the island, though you may receive Aruban florins in change. Aruba is also known for being exceptionally safe and friendly, but travelers should still be respectful of wildlife and the environment—leave sand on the beach and avoid stepping on coral while snorkeling.
Finally, allow time to simply enjoy the beach. Aruba’s biggest strength is how easy the island feels: calm water, consistent sunshine, and a relaxed rhythm that makes it just as enjoyable to do very little as it is to explore.
