Curator’s statement
Visiting Spain always gets me giddy! After my first visit to Madrid in my 20s, I continue to come back again and again, finding new ways to enjoy this deeply traditional yet modern city. Madrid is a city that lives boldly and beautifully, where centuries of royal history blend seamlessly with a modern, magnetic energy. It’s a city defined by passion, artistry, and warmth, where every moment feels both timeless and alive, and where visitors quickly discover that Madrid isn’t just a destination—it’s a feeling. I agree!

Things to do in Madrid

The Prado: Every time! This museum is outstanding. Grab a coffee and a private guide pre-opening and see the masterpieces with a historical narrative.
Toledo: A quick one-hour train ride will have you immersed in this UNESCO-listed, elevated Romanesque principality, home to the historic Alcázar and cathedral.
Flamenco dinner: This Spanish music and dance is inherent to the culture. Pro tip: There are many “Tablao” venues in the city, but I only send my clients to one: Corral del Moreria. It's a bit expensive but worth every euro spent!
Supermarket/indoor food market visit: Supermarket visits are my jam!. Each neighborhood in Madrid has its own bakery, fish, fruit, and vegetable market, and of course jamón! Wander around or take a food tour for the best delights in the city!
Take in an outdoor movie: If you visit Madrid in the summer, this is an experience you won’t want to miss! Held in the Plaza de España, this is a fun way to see cinema al fresco.
Exclusive shopping experience at El Corte Inglés: Hang in the VIP lounge for champagne and snacks while you enjoy your personal shopper experience.
Places to eat & drink in Madrid

In Madrid, tapas and La Hora del Vermut are classic traditions that every visitor should experience. With over 15,000 places to eat and drink, you will never run out of options!
Casa Toni: Basic no-fluff tapas bar
La Casa del Abuelo: The birthplace of one of Spain’s most legendary tapas: gambas al ajillo
Taberna Real: Grab a vermouth here with some olives. It's just near the Royal Palace, so very convenient for a stop in
Desde 911: Upscale seafood restaurant
El Corte Inglés: Yes, it's a department store with an amazing food hall! Pro tip: Go to the El Corte Inglés Serrano specifically, where Chef David Munoz, who also runs a three-star Michelin restaurant in Madrid, owns StreetXO. The lines are long to get in but the wait is worth it!
