Things to do in Calistoga

Many beautiful vineyards!

Taste wine in a castle

Castello di Amorosa isn’t just a winery—it’s a medieval-style Tuscan castle with towers, dungeons, and truly excellent reds. It’s a little over-the-top in the best way, and the guided tastings in the stone cellar are a must.

Soak in natural hot springs

Calistoga is famous for its geothermal waters. Book a mineral soak or mud bath at a classic spot like Indian Springs or Dr. Wilkinson’s. It’s the kind of deeply relaxing experience you didn’t know your body needed.

Slow sip at boutique wineries

Smaller, family run wineries like Tamber Bey, Chateau Montelena, or Clos Pegase offer intimate tastings and vineyard views without the crowds. Many also serve small bites or let you purchase food on site—perfect for a leisurely afternoon.

Stroll the town (with a coffee or a cone)

Lincoln Avenue is full of small-town charm. Start your day at Calistoga Roastery or Soul Rebel Coffee, pop into local shops, and finish with a treat from Calistoga Creamery or Picasso Ice Cream.

See the Old Faithful Geyser

This quirky little geyser erupts every 30 minutes—and it’s surprisingly fun. The property includes a geology museum and picnic areas, making it a relaxing stop for families or curious travelers.

Hike among redwoods

Head to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park for peaceful trails beneath redwoods and oaks. It’s close to town but feels like a true escape into nature—perfect for a morning walk or afternoon reset.

Take a hot-air balloon ride over Napa Valley

Soar over rolling vineyards at sunrise with a hot-air balloon tour. The views are unreal: misty hills, golden vines, and peaceful farmland as far as the eye can see. Most rides include coffee, a champagne toast, and memories that last long after your feet are back on the ground.

Places to eat & drink in Calistoga

Good eats at Calistoga Inn

Valette Calistoga (new & elevated)

From the team behind the beloved Healdsburg location, Valette’s Calistoga outpost brings beautifully plated, locally inspired dishes in a refined but relaxed setting. Perfect for a special night out.

Sam’s Social Club (stylish & casual)

Located at Indian Springs Resort, this spot is trendy without trying too hard. Think wood-fired pizza, craft cocktails, and a buzzy outdoor patio that’s perfect for lunch or dinner after the spa.

Calistoga Inn Restaurant & Brewery (best vibes & house beer)

A local favorite with a huge garden patio, live music, and its own microbrewery. Great for group dinners, relaxed lunches, or just a cold beer on a warm afternoon.

Lovina (farm-to-table comfort food)

Charming and community-focused, Lovina serves seasonal dishes in a welcoming, homey setting. Brunch here is especially loved (hello, lemon ricotta pancakes and mimosas).

Tank Garage Winery (coolest tasting room)

Hands down one of the most unique tasting experiences in Calistoga. It’s set in a retro gas station, with wild blends, rad labels, and a fun, unpretentious vibe.

Soul Rebel Coffee (best coffee & smoothie bowls)

A local gem for organic coffee, plant-based eats, smoothies, and chill outdoor seating. Great pre-hike or pre-spa fuel.

Calistoga Creamery (sweet tooth stop)

Locally made, ultra-creamy ice cream with fun flavors like lavender-honey or bourbon-vanilla. The perfect treat for a hot wine country day!
