Advisor - The Best of Athens & Paros: A Luxurious 10 Days in Greece
Curator’s statement

Greece is one of those destinations that effortlessly combines history, beauty, food, and slow luxury in a way very few places can. What I love most is the contrast between the energy of Athens, rooftop dinners overlooking the Acropolis, hidden alleyways, centuries of history, and the slower rhythm of the islands, where days revolve around the sea, long lunches, and sunset dinners. This itinerary was designed to feel elevated but relaxed, balancing iconic experiences with more intimate moments that make the trip feel deeply personal. Greece has a way of making even the simplest moments feel cinematic, which is exactly why I continue to come back to it.

Day 1: Arrival & settling into Athens

Perianth Hotel, Anther Bar

After arriving in Athens, settle into the historic heart of the city with a stay in Plaka, one of the most charming and walkable neighborhoods in Athens. I always recommend keeping the first evening intentionally light after an international flight, allowing time to wander the nearby streets, admire the neoclassical architecture, and ease into the slower Mediterranean pace. Staying at Perianth Hotel places you close to both Monastiraki and the Acropolis while still feeling elevated and design-forward. The best way to spend the evening is simply by soaking in the atmosphere, enjoying a relaxed dinner nearby, and taking in those first illuminated views of Athens at night.

Day 2: Acropolis mornings & rooftop dining

Temple of Athena Nike

Start the day early at the Acropolis before the city fully wakes up, which is absolutely the best way to experience one of the world’s most iconic historic sites without the heavier crowds and midday heat. A private guided tour adds so much context to the experience and makes the history feel immersive rather than overwhelming. Afterward, spend the afternoon wandering through Plaka and Monastiraki, shopping for handmade sandals, ceramics, linens, and local finds tucked throughout the side streets and small courtyards. End the evening with rooftop dining overlooking the illuminated Acropolis, one of those classic Athens moments that somehow still feels magical every time.

Day 3: Hammam spa rituals & relaxation

Athens

After a few days of exploring Athens, today is intentionally slower and centered around wellness and relaxation. Spend the afternoon at Al Hammam Traditional Baths, where centuries-old hammam rituals, steam rooms, and massage treatments create one of the most calming experiences in the city. I always recommend building slower days like this into European itineraries because it allows the trip to feel restorative rather than overly scheduled. The rest of the evening can be spent wandering Athens at your own pace, lingering over dinner, enjoying rooftop cocktails, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of the city after dark.

Day 4: Athens through food, wine & rooftop views

Fresh cheese at a local Athenian market

Today is all about experiencing Athens beyond the major landmarks through its food, neighborhoods, and local culture. Start the day with a private food tour through the city, sampling everything from traditional pastries and fresh seafood to local cheeses, olive oils, and Greek wines while exploring neighborhoods you likely wouldn’t discover on your own. I love incorporating food experiences into itineraries because they create such a deeper connection to a destination and allow the city to feel more personal and immersive. In the evening, freshen up before heading to one of Athens’ rooftop restaurants for cocktails and dinner overlooking the Acropolis, one of the most iconic and beautiful ways to experience the city at night.

Day 5: Island arrival on Paros

Cove Paros pool

Today shifts the pace of the trip from the energy of Athens to the slower, more relaxed atmosphere of the Greek islands. After a short flight to Paros, settle into Cove Paros, a beautifully designed luxury hotel that immediately feels calm, coastal, and understated in the best way. I always recommend keeping the first afternoon on the islands intentionally light, whether that means relaxing by the pool, walking along the water, or enjoying a slow seaside lunch before dinner reservations later in the evening. The transition from the historic streets of Athens to the soft white architecture and turquoise coastline of Paros is one of the things that makes this itinerary feel so balanced and memorable.

Day 6: Private yacht day through Antiparos

Antiparos

Today is designed around one of the most unforgettable experiences in the Greek islands, spending the day exploring Antiparos and the surrounding coastline by private yacht. Cruising through the Aegean allows you to reach hidden coves, dramatic sea caves, and crystal-clear swimming spots that are impossible to experience the same way from land. Stops like the Blue Lagoon, Faneromeni Beach, and Despotiko Island feel incredibly secluded and cinematic, especially when experienced by boat at a slower, more private pace. I always recommend bringing a light cover-up, minimal plans for the evening, and simply letting the day unfold naturally because these are the kinds of experiences people remember most from Greece.

Day 7: Exploring the villages, wineries & coastline of Paros

Naousa, Paros

Today is all about discovering the quieter and more authentic side of Paros beyond the beach clubs and main tourist areas. A private island tour allows you to explore traditional whitewashed villages, scenic coastal roads, hidden churches, and local family-run spots at a much more relaxed pace. One of my favorite parts of the day is the winery visit and long lunch at a local taverna, experiences that feel deeply rooted in Greek culture and make the island feel far more personal and immersive. I always recommend leaving space throughout the day for spontaneous stops because some of the best moments in Paros happen in the small villages and coastal viewpoints you weren’t expecting to find.

Day 8: Olive oil tasting & island afternoons

Petra Farm, Paros

Today is intentionally slower and centered around one of the things Greece does best, long meals, local wine, and beautifully simple experiences rooted in the landscape. Spend the morning at Petra Farm enjoying a private olive oil and wine tasting paired with a relaxed lunch overlooking the countryside, an experience that feels intimate, authentic, and far removed from the more tourist-heavy parts of the islands. I love including experiences like this because they create a deeper connection to the destination while still feeling elevated and luxurious in a very understated way. After returning to the hotel, keep the rest of the afternoon open for spa time, beach walks, or simply enjoying one last slow evening in Paros before returning to Athens.

Day 9: Final Athenian rooftop evening

After a slower few days on Paros, today is designed to ease you back into Athens before the flight home. Following a short flight from Paros, check into Sofitel Athens Airport for a seamless final night that keeps departure day stress-free while still feeling elevated and comfortable. I always recommend ending longer itineraries with an airport hotel when flights depart early because it allows you to enjoy the final evening without worrying about logistics the next morning. Finish the trip with one last rooftop dinner overlooking the city, a relaxed and memorable way to close out the Greece experience before heading home.

Need to know

Greece is one of those destinations that’s best experienced slowly, especially on the islands. I always recommend leaving room in the itinerary for long lunches, spontaneous beach stops, sunset cocktails, and slower mornings because some of the best moments happen outside of the schedule itself.

For Athens, comfortable walking shoes are essential since many streets are uneven and exploring neighborhoods like Plaka and Monastiraki is best done on foot.

When island hopping, I strongly prefer short flights or private transfers over relying entirely on ferries, especially for travelers prioritizing comfort and a more seamless experience. Restaurant reservations should also be made well in advance during peak season, particularly for rooftop dining and waterfront restaurants.

Most importantly, Greece is a destination where the atmosphere matters just as much as the landmarks. The best trips balance iconic experiences with slower, more intimate moments, whether that’s a private yacht day, a hidden taverna lunch, or simply watching the sunset with a glass of wine overlooking the sea.
