Curator’s statement

Belize was one of my first international trips as a child with my own parents and the beginning of my itch to see the world! A relatively quick flight from many U.S. cities, Belize offers a combination of jungle wildlife, adventure activities, beautiful beaches and phenomenal diving (my favorite dive so far). Best to visit Belize during their dry season, which ranges from late-November to mid-April.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Katie to book your trip.

Day 1: Fly from your home airport to Belize City

Beautiful stone architecture in Belize

Take an airport transfer from Belize City airport to your hotel in the San Ignacio area in the Cayo District in western Belize.

Some recommended hotels include: Ka'ana Resort and Spa, Gaia River Lodge, & Blancaneaux Lodge. Check in for a 4-night stay and relax.

Day 2: Cave tubing and jungle zip lining

Beautiful green Belize

Take a Cave Tubing and Jungle Zip Lining tour through Belize (8 hours) tour. I took this tour as a teenager with my family and loved it! For most of the San Ignacio lodges, you will primarily be dining at the resort. One thing to note is that accommodations at Gaia River Lodge and Blancaneaux Lodge do not offer TVs or internet access. These resorts are stunning and perfect for nature lovers, but they are more of a disconnect, as opposed to Ka'ana Resort, which offers WiFi and flat screen TVs.

Day 3: Take a Tikal day trip with local lunch

Tikal Day Trip

Tikal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one that you don't want to miss. This tour is approximately 9.5 hours, but includes roundtrip transportation from your hotel and park fees.

Day 4: San Ignacio

San Ignacio town

I would recommend either a full day Horseback Ride to the Forgotten Jungle City (8 hours with lunch included) or spend the day relaxing at your choice of accommodation and enjoy the pools and spa. For those staying at Blancaneaux Lodge, they do have horseback riding at the lodge.

Day 5: San Ignacio to Belize City

Blue Belize

You will take an airport transfer from your San Ignacio hotel back to the Belize City, Belize airport. From there you will take an island hopper flight on either Tropic Air or Maya Island Air over to San Pedro, Belize. From here, you will check into your San Pedro accommodation for a 5-night stay. A couple recommended hotel options include: Las Terrazas Resort & Residences and Alaia Belize, Autograph Collection.

Day 6: Hol Chan & snorkel at Shark Ray Alley

Shark Belize

Choose between a Hol Chan & Snorkel at Shark Ray Alley (you will see stingrays and nurse sharks - which are totally safe), a Discover Scuba Diving Tour or a Blue Hole Scuba Diving Tour for the experienced divers.

Day 7: Reef fishing, beach BBQ and snorkeling tour

Beautiful Belize

Choose between a Reef Fishing, Beach BBQ and Snorkeling Tour (8 hours) or a Snorkeling: Mexico Rocks Tour (3 hours). Belize has exceptional snorkeling and scuba diving, so take advantage of these activities during your stay!

Day 8: Final day at resort

Resort at Belize

On your final full day, spend the day relaxing at your resort and check out some local cuisine at the following restaurants: Caroline's Cookin', Palmilla Restaurant or Frenchy's by The French Touch - Lounge Bar & Restaurant.

Day 9: Wrap up

Beautiful Belize

On your final day, you will take another island hopper flight (Tropic Air or Maya Island Air) back to the Belize City, Belize airport from San Pedro, before taking your flight(s) back to your home airport.
