Curator’s statement
Vancouver holds a special place in my heart. I love its moody, cool weather. Where rain feels cozy, but the sun always manages to break through. The city itself is sparkling clean and beautifully nestled between lush green forests and the harbor, creating a perfect balance of urban energy and natural beauty. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a family adventure, Vancouver offers the best of both worlds.

Day 1: Stanley Park & waterfront wandering

Historic First Nations totem poles near Brockton Point
Kick off your first day in Vancouver with one of the city’s most iconic experiences: a walk through Stanley Park. If you’re staying near Canada Place, the best way to get there is on foot. The stroll itself is part of the magic. You’ll pass by quirky floating houseboats, watch seaplanes take off and land, and enjoy nonstop views of the harbor and mountains.
Once inside the park, you’ll be surrounded by towering evergreens, coastal trails, and wildlife. Don’t miss the historic First Nations totem poles near Brockton Point, one of the most photographed spots in British Columbia, and keep your eyes peeled for blue herons, raccoons, and maybe even a seal or two offshore. It’s a peaceful, awe-inspiring escape right in the middle of the city.
After your walk, head to the Cactus Club Café at English Bay or Coal Harbour. It’s a local favorite with consistently great food, laid-back vibes, and waterfront views.
In the evening, make your way over to Gastown, Vancouver’s oldest neighborhood. With its cobblestone streets, independent shops, and the famous steam clock, it’s the perfect place for a relaxed evening stroll. Wrap up your day with dinner or drinks at Chop Steakhouse & Bar, where you can watch the cruise ships glide by and toast to the start of an incredible Vancouver getaway.
Day 2: Forest adventures & French fare

The cliff walk at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Start your second day in Vancouver with a walk to Canada Place, where you’ll find the immersive FlyOver Canada experience. This virtual flight ride takes you soaring across the country, from coastlines to mountains, with wind, mist, and scents that make it feel surprisingly real. It’s a fun and thrilling way to kick off your day, especially for kids and first-timers.
Right outside Canada Place, hop on the free shuttle to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, a must-do, especially if you’re traveling with children (but adults love it just as much). Nestled in the heart of the Pacific coastal rainforest, plan a half day for this adventure.
Cross the iconic suspension bridge, spanning 450 feet and hanging 230 feet above the Capilano River, then explore elevated treetop walkways, a dramatic cliffwalk, scenic lagoons, and hands-on nature talks. The towering trees and misty greenery feel like something straight out of a fairy tale, and it’s well worth the price of admission.
After returning downtown, enjoy a stroll past Vancouver’s vibrant shops and boutiques on your way to PAUL, a charming French-inspired café and restaurant. Whether you’re in the mood for a warm meal, crisp salad, or a display case full of fresh pastries and desserts, it’s the perfect way to end a day filled with fresh air and unforgettable views.
Day 3: Market wandering & museum magic

Granville Island kids market
On your final day in Vancouver, head to one of the city’s most beloved spots: Granville Island Public Market. Just a short drive from Canada Place, or an easy stop on most hop-on hop-off bus tours, Granville Island is a vibrant hub filled with artisan shops, fresh food stalls, street performers, and kid-friendly activities. You could easily spend a full morning here sampling local treats, browsing handmade goods, and watching boats float by in the marina.
Families won’t want to miss the Kids Market, an indoor play zone packed with toy shops, games, and hands-on fun specifically designed for little travelers. It’s a great place for kids to burn off energy while parents enjoy a coffee and some shopping.
After lunch, make your way to the Science World at TELUS World of Science, one of Vancouver’s most iconic and family-friendly attractions. You can reach it from Granville Island by car (about 10 minutes) or by water taxi (a scenic and fun option!).
Science World is packed with interactive exhibits, live science shows, and hands-on displays that engage kids of all ages—from dinosaurs and outer space to engineering and sustainability. Housed in a futuristic geodesic dome, it’s as fun to look at as it is to explore inside.
For dinner, head to Tap & Barrel – Olympic Village, just a few minutes from the museum. It’s a casual, kid-friendly spot with waterfront views, a great selection of local brews, and a varied menu that covers everything from burgers and bowls to flatbreads and seafood—perfect for refueling after a busy, adventure-packed day.
Need to know
The city is known for its cool, misty weather, especially in the spring and fall, but don’t let that stop you. In fact, it adds to the charm! Most days, all you’ll need is a light jacket, and thanks to thoughtfully designed rain overhangs on downtown buildings, you can explore on foot without even needing an umbrella.
Vancouver is a highly walkable, clean, and safe city with easy access to nature, water, and incredible dining. Public transit and free hotel shuttles (like the one to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park) make getting around stress-free, especially if you’re traveling without a car.
Pro tip: If you’re visiting before a cruise, staying near Canada Place is ideal—most of the city’s best attractions are within walking distance, and it’s a breeze to get to the terminal on embarkation day.
