Things to do in Bali
1. Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Home to over 1,000 long-tailed macaques, this jungle sanctuary is one of Bali’s can’t-miss attractions. Wander among ancient temples while playful monkeys swing through the trees. (Insider tip: Be careful what you bring. The monkeys are known to snatch things from visitors. They LOVE sunglasses! Keep all of your belongings zipped up and close to your body.)
2. Tegallalang Rice Terraces & Bali Swing
These iconic stepped rice fields are a must-see, with their gorgeous emerald slopes and unique irrigation system. After taking in the views, soar above the terraces on one of Bali’s famous jungle swings for the ultimate photo op and adrenaline rush.
3. Taman Ayun Temple
This peaceful, water-surrounded temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a great introduction to Balinese architecture and spiritual traditions. The landscaped gardens and tranquil atmosphere make it a serene and romantic stop for couples.
4. Pura Lempuyang & Gates of Heaven
One of the most photographed spots in Bali, this temple complex offers stunning views of Mount Agung through its “Gates of Heaven.” Arrive early to beat the crowds — it’s a bit of a trek from Ubud or the beach towns, but totally worth it.
5. Kanto Lampo Waterfall
Tucked away in the jungle, this picturesque waterfall cascades down a rocky staircase into a shallow pool. This is a great spot for a refreshing dip and a romantic photoshoot.
6. Nusa Penida
Take a boat to Bali’s most stunning offshore island, known for dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters and famous photo spots like Kelingking Beach and Angel’s Billabong. Ideal for a romantic day of adventure and jaw-dropping views.
7. Melasti Beach
Known for its towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear water, Melasti Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali (and my personal favorite). Great for sunset photos, beach lounging or even a romantic seaside massage.
8. Seminyak Village & Markets
Explore stylish boutiques, local markets and art galleries in this lively beach town. Perfect for picking up homeware, fashion or keepsakes with a Balinese twist — and grabbing a smoothie or cocktail in between.
9. Uluwatu Temple & Kecak Fire Dance
Perched high above the ocean, this dramatic sea temple offers sweeping views and nightly fire dance performances at sunset. It’s a cultural must-see and an incredibly romantic way to end the day.
10. Canggu Beach & Beach Clubs
With laid-back vibes, great surf and a trendy café scene, Canggu is perfect for couples who want a more boho beach experience. Head to beach clubs like The Lawn or La Brisa for sunset cocktails with ocean views.

Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner) – Iconic for its crispy duck and garden setting just outside the rice paddies.
Swept Away – A romantic fine-dining spot on the river, offering candlelit tables by the water and a modern Balinese menu.
Lumbung Sari House of Luwak Coffee - This peaceful spot offers complimentary tastings of Bali’s famous Kopi Luwak, one of the most unique and expensive coffees in the world, in a serene garden setting.
Bambu – A romantic setting and high-end twist on traditional Indonesian cuisine in a peaceful courtyard.
Seasalt at Alila Seminyak – A seafood-focused menu with fresh, local ingredients, paired with breezy coastal views.
Milk & Madu – A go-to for couples who want casual bites, great coffee and live acoustic music in the evenings.
Mason – A trendy spot for wood-fired meats, Mediterranean flavors and house-made charcuterie — great date night energy.

Need to know
Bali is the ultimate honeymoon paradise, and there’s so much to explore and enjoy. To truly experience its magic, I recommend planning a seven- to ten-day getaway — the perfect amount of time to indulge in both adventure and relaxation, splitting half your time between Ubud and one of the amazing beach towns. If you want to spend more than 10 days, then I recommend also staying on Bali’s most famous island, Nusa Penida, for a few nights, instead of just taking a day trip.
While English is widely spoken in tourist areas, learning a few basic Bahasa Indonesia phrases is appreciated and goes a long way with locals: “Terima kasih” (thank you) or “Selamat pagi” (good morning). When visiting temples, dress respectfully (covering shoulders and knees) — many temples offer sarongs, but it’s always nice to come prepared. For transportation, I recommend hiring a private driver (which I can help arrange) for a more intimate experience or using Grab for convenience. Bali is a safe destination, but keep your belongings secure, especially around the mischievous monkeys in places like the Monkey Forest!
With any honeymoon or couples' trip, always remember to take the time to savor the serene moments — whether it’s watching a sunset over the ocean, relaxing with a couple’s spa treatment, or strolling through lush rice terraces hand in hand. Bali is a place where every moment feels like a dream, and it’s the perfect backdrop for a honeymoon filled with romance and adventure.
