Things to do in Montreal

Fresh berries from local farmers at the Atwater Market

  • Walk through Old Port: The cobblestone streets of Old Port will make you reminisce gorgeous European cities—filled with cafes, unique boutiques, vintage stores, bustling restaurants, and more. Even at night, the city glows with a vintage charm.

  • Browse the Atwater Market: Overflowing with vibrant flowers, seasonal produce, and artisan vendors, the "Marché Atwater" is your daytime destination. Enjoy authentic Vietnamese food, locally made pastries, and an abundance of cheese and wine. This market has everything from sweet treats to local meats—come hungry!

  • Shop along Rue Notre Dame: Located right around the corner from the Atwater Market, this is one of the cutest streets in Montreal. With bakeries, cafes, vintages stores, thrift shops, art galleries, and more, it's the perfect afternoon stroll. You can spend hours at some of the vintage stores!

  • Climb Mont Royal: Soak in the best view of the city! Though it's quite the climb, the view at the top is unbeatable. The surrounding area is full of fantastic ethnic restaurants—perfect for a well-earned lunch.

  • Attend a local festival: The largest jazz festival in the world happens in Montreal every summer—Montreal International Jazz Festival. Jam out to some amazing live music while enjoying a beer, seltzer, or glass of wine. Aside from jazz, the city hosts an array of other events throughout the year: Christmas markets, art festivals, firework shows, and more. Festivals are one of the best ways to hang out with new friends while solo traveling!

Places to eat & drink in Montreal

Greek salad + glass of rosé = perfect afternoon.

  • Cinqàsept: Divine Italian-inspired cuisine. Great spot to sit at the bar and enjoy fresh pasta dishes alongside perfectly paired vino.

  • Ciccio's: A Montreal must. These sandwiches are just divine! The Tacchino with bomba sauce was a server's recommendation, and it was phenomenal. (Don't forget the pistachio tiramisu for dessert!)

  • Bisou Bisou: An ambient and classy spot for a cocktail, glass of wine, or sherry tasting. Their cheese board and small plates are perfect for a pre-dinner snack.

  • Crew Collective & Cafe: The interior of this coffee shop is just beautiful. A great spot to people watch, catch up on work, and enjoy a great cappuccino. (Ideal for a rainy day!)

  • Café Paquebot: Their latte proportions are absolutely perfect! The iced oat milk vanilla latte is truly divine. This cozy cafe is the perfect place to journal or read.

  • Taverne Grecque Máti: With its Mediterranean ambience, this restaurant is as delicious as it is beautiful. Between the creamy hummus, slow-roasted lamb, and fresh Greek salad, it's hard to pick a menu favorite!

  • La Distillerie no.1: This is your spot for a craft cocktail. Innovative drinks and friendly bartenders make this a great spot to either start or end the night—or both!

  • Omnivore: The most fresh and delicious Lebanese cuisine! Their meats, rice, sauces, and pita are all so yummy.
