Curator’s statement
London wasn’t new for everyone in our group—some had visited before, and one couple is lucky enough to call the UK home. For my husband and I, it was our first time in London, though certainly not our first trip to Europe. Over the years, we’ve explored countries like Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, and what was once Czechoslovakia—each with its own magic. Still, London managed to surprise and delight us in ways we didn’t expect. It’s a city that blends centuries of history with modern vibrancy, and experiencing it alongside friends—especially those who know it well—made it even more special. We arrived to meet up with our group before setting sail on a Princess Cruise around Great Britain from Southampton. What followed were five unforgettable days filled with shared meals, laughter, and the kind of moments that make a city truly come alive. London is full of contrast and character. One moment you’re admiring the grandeur of Buckingham Palace, and the next, you’re sipping tea on a floating barge along the Thames. Whether you’re traveling as a couple or with a few close friends, every corner feels personal, and every moment meaningful. Each day brought something new—a quiet stroll through a leafy park, the discovery of a tucked-away bookshop, or a glass of wine at a riverside pub as the sun set over the city. Traveling with others made the experience even richer. We saw London through many lenses: first-time awe, local familiarity, and shared nostalgia. We left feeling full—in every sense. If you’re dreaming of a London trip with your partner or a small group, I can’t recommend it enough. And if you’d like help creating your own experience—tailored to your travel style and interests—I’d love to help. Reach out, and let’s start planning your next unforgettable European getaway.

Things to do in London, England

Big Ben
Catch a West End show at the Apollo Victoria Theatre: We spent one evening immersed in the spellbinding world of Wicked. The Apollo Victoria Theatre is stunning, the energy electric, and the show—pure magic. It’s a fantastic night out for couples and groups alike.
Explore Buckingham Palace and Its Surroundings: With the royal family away, we toured the palace, The King’s Gallery, and the Royal Mews. It’s a fascinating glimpse into royal life. Afterward, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at Tattershall Castle, a charming floating venue on the Victoria Embankment
Cruise the River Thames with City Experiences: Cruising down the Thames under Tower Bridge toward Greenwich was both relaxing and scenic. Seeing London from the water gives you a whole new appreciation for the city’s scale and history. A visit to the historic Cutty Sark ship was a great bonus.
Take a Beatles Tour with Eco Wedding Taxi: This was a huge hit with our group! Our guide, Scott, brought the Beatles’ legacy to life with humor and deep knowledge. Of course, we couldn’t leave without that iconic Abbey Road photo—just watch for the traffic!
Step Into Downton Abbey at Highclere Castle: One of our favorite day trips. We joined a guided tour of Highclere Castle, the real-life Downton Abbey. The house and grounds were breathtaking, and for fans of the show, it’s an absolute must. Brit Movie Tours handled everything seamlessly.
