Curator’s statement
Coworth Park—just 20 minutes from Heathrow and less than an hour from London—embodies country refinement. The expansive grounds are perfectly manicured yet still invite guests to wander. The rooms are sumptuous without being stuffy, and the food is consistently on point. But most importantly—and this is truly a rare find—the staff at Coworth Park are always one step ahead. You’re greeted by name the moment you arrive. Your coffee is refilled almost before you realize you need it. A golf cart appears just as you’re thinking a ride might be nice. (I’m fairly certain the sun even lingers a little longer as it sets—just to give you a few extra moments in the golden hour. I don’t think the staff could arrange that, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.) And yet, none of it feels staged or forced. Everything flows with a quiet grace that’s hard to find—and even harder to forget. (Should you need more convincing, note that the royals love Coworth Park themselves. It is a destination that is truly fit for a king).

Things to do in Coworth Park, England

The exquisitely remodeled Coworth Park spa
Stroll the gardens
Set within 240 acres of rolling Berkshire parkland, Coworth Park offers ever-changing natural beauty. Those who visit during wildflower season are especially lucky as they’ll see the meadow burst with color. (It’s been said that the late Queen herself admired the hotel’s meadow so much that she personally commissioned its designer for her own gardens.)
Guests are invited to roam the grounds with a picnic basket in hand—thoughtfully packed by the hotel—and claim a quiet corner to take it all in.
No matter the season, don’t miss sunset on the Mansion House terrace.
If you’d like more natural beauty, world-class gardens await just minutes away—including the Savill Garden, RHS Garden Wisley, and the legendary Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Enjoy a polo match at Coworth Park
At Coworth Park, polo is part of the landscape—and happens to be the Guards Polo Club, one of the world’s most revered polo institutions. While you meander along the gardens, you’ll see the impressive fields, and if you plan correctly, you can watch a game without leaving the resort. (From select rooms, guests can even enjoy a front-row view of the action, watching world-class matches unfold right outside their windows.) For those inspired to step onto the field themselves, the Guards Polo Club offers private instruction, whether for an hour or a full day. After all, if you’re going to play, why not learn from the very best?
Spa
The treatments at the Coworth Park Spa come with a touch of magic. From crystal-infused acupuncture to rose quartz therapy beds to sustainably hand-harvested seaweed from the remote Hebridean Islands.
When you’re done with your appointments, an amethyst-lined indoor pool awaits—the amethyst for an extra sense of calm. From there, perhaps you’ll find the sun loungers in the garden. You will feel as if the whole day has been gently orchestrated just for you.
Kids’ Club
Let’s start by mentioning that your little one(s) will be showered with treats upon arrival—a luxury child-size bathrobe, slippers, and special goodies await.
The Kids’ Club truly shines during school breaks when it becomes a sort of country club for kids. This exclusive club has its own house on the resort’s property. From crafting, baking, playing, and exploring the grounds, your little ones will be delighted with their stay. This is truly something you—or rather your child!—must experience to fully appreciate.
Country pursuits
Coworth Park offers all the charm and tradition you’d expect from a quintessential English country estate. Try your hand at duck herding—a surprisingly effective team-building activity—or experience the thrill of falconry. Croquet on the mansion lawn invites a touch of classic leisure, while bicycles are ready for you to explore the grounds at your own pace. Archery and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged, and those curious about beekeeping can join a session with the estate’s resident beekeeper. And of course, no country escape would be complete without horses—whether you’d like a gentle introduction for younger guests or a chance to ride through the countryside yourself, you’ll find the stable right on property.
Visit Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle—the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world—is just a 10-minute drive from Coworth. This magnificent estate is so vast and immaculately kept, it feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Your ticket includes a complimentary guided audio tour, or you can choose from a variety of guided experiences (I offer a fantastic kid-friendly option!). The royal family often visits—on our trip, we even had the unexpected thrill of seeing the King himself.
Boating on the Thames
A boat trip down the Thames is a wonderful way to experience the surrounding countryside during your stay at Coworth Park. With both private and public options available, there’s something to suit every travel style. Cruises can be as brief as 30 minutes, making it an easy and flexible addition to your itinerary—no matter how full your day may be.
Windsor Great Park
Just beyond the estate lies Windsor Great Park: a regal expanse perfect for all ages. While it offers all the hallmarks of an elegant adult escape, it also hides a charming secret—a whimsical adventure play area, complete with treehouses, slides, and winding woodland paths. It’s the kind of place that delights imaginations.
Distillery visit
While there are several excellent distilleries near Coworth Park, Silent Pool Gin is a standout. This boutique distillery offers a range of engaging experiences, but one that truly catches the eye is the “Make Your Own Aroma Garnish” workshop. Using locally sourced botanicals, guests create a personalized garnish to take home—an elegant touch that feels like the final flourish of a well-crafted cocktail. (Doesn’t “aroma garnish” sound like the pinnacle of mixology?)
Adventure parks
If you’re visiting on an adults-only trip, you’ll most likely have very little reason to leave the hotel grounds. But, should you need to keep younger travelers happy, you’ll find many adventure parks nearby. Legoland Windsor, Thorpe Park (thrill rides galore!), and Go Ape (a ropes course) are at the top of the list.
Places to eat & drink in Coworth Park, England

The Barn: On property, you’ll find this delightfully rustic-chic dining experience nestled between the Stables and the Mansion House. There are few dining areas that are truly “all seasons” but The Barn deserves the title! In the colder months, stay snug by the fireplace, and in the summer the wall of windows opens for a comfortable alfresco-type experience. The food is fantastic, but the cocktails quickly landed on our list of trip highlights (just behind that surprising moment when we spotted the King himself).
Woven: The main dining room in the Mansion House at Coworth Park, where you’ll enjoy a complimentary breakfast when you book with Fora. The breakfast features a carefully curated selection of fresh, seasonal treats—like honey straight from the comb, artisanal pastries, and dairy-free options. In the evening, Woven transforms into a Michelin-starred dining experience, highlighting the best of British ingredients through a refined tasting menu.
Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room: Is a trip to England complete if you don’t enjoy an afternoon tea? I’d argue no. The casual elegance of the drawing room respects the formality of afternoon tea while maintaining a fresh, upscale vibe.
The Belvedere Arms: Less than a 5-minute drive from Coworth Park, you’ll find the welcoming Belvedere Arms. This cozy restaurant has a recently refurbished interior and a lovely little garden. Cozy up. (While not exclusively plant-based, this restaurant clearly marks the numerous vegetarian and vegan dishes).
The Waterside Inn: Nestled in the 16th century village of Bray, The Waterside Inn is the only restaurant in the UK that has consistently maintained a 3-Michelin Star rating for over 30 years.
The Bailiwick: Enjoy a classic country pub with a traditional British menu owned by husband-and-wife team Steven and Sarah Ellis. The views are stunning. If you can, grab a seat on the terrace that overlooks Windsor Great Park.
The Hinds Head: If you’re looking for a true sense of place, The Hinds Head is a must. Built in the 15th century, and welcoming guests for the past 400 years, The Hinds Head preserves its authentic character through classic dishes—some revived with the help of food historians.

Don't over plan! Once you arrive, you won't want to leave.
Coworth Park feels miles away from everything, but it is surprisingly close to the airport.
