Things to do in Willamette Valley

  • Half or full day guided or self-guided wine tour of Chehalem Mountain: Include stops at Six Peaks Vineyards, Cho Wines & Gran Moraine. All locations have excellent selections of reds, whites and bubbles. If interested in a distillery stop, check out Killdeer Distilling in the area as well for whisky flights and craft cocktails. Reservations recommended for all locations.

  • Silver Falls State Park: Hike the Trail of Ten Falls outside of Silverton, Oregon. Pack plenty of waterproof clothing options.

  • Explore historic 3rd Street in Downtown McMinnville. Shop, eat and drink until your hearts content.

  • Soter Vineyards Mineral Springs Ranch provisions tasting: Reserve a spot for a guided wine tasting experience. Pair it with seasonal foods created by Soter's own chef using locally sourced products.

  • Yamhill Farm Loop: Flowers, farms, animals, U-pick fruits and lavender will be around each corner on this self-guided tour.

  • McKenzie River: Hike, boat, fish or soak at Belknap Hot Springs along Oregon Route 126.

  • Vista Balloon Adventures: Fly over the Willamette Valley in a hot-air balloon for gorgeous valley views. Meeting point is in Newberg, OR.

  • Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum: For adults and kids alike, check out this museum in McMinnville. Climb inside the Spruce Goose. Next door is an indoor water park that is available for the kids to enjoy.

Day trips

Spend one day driving approx 60–70 minutes to Oregon Coast. Explore Lincoln City Road-end beach, then drive north to Neskowin and Pacific City. Lunch at Hawk Creek Café or Pelican Pub Brewery.

Breakfast

  • Crescent Cafe, McMinnville: Daily egg & coffee cake specials will have everyone happy.

  • Bodhi Bakery (inside Mac Market) McMinnville: coffee and pastries (closed Mondays). Be sure to try a morning bun.

  • Bad Dog Bakery, McMinnville: Pastries, rolls and breakfast sandwiches. Open Thursday–Sunday only.

Lunch

  • The Sage, McMinnville, hearty soups, salads & sandwiches made with fresh-baked bread daily.

  • Dos Mundos, Newberg: Mexican food truck with delicious fresh-made ingredients daily.

Dinner

  • Las Ramblas, McMinnville, tapas meant to share and delicious cocktails. Reservations recommended.

  • Pizza Capo, McMinnville, excellent wood-fired pizza and Italian fare. Great happy hour options.

  • Xicha Brewing, Salem (2 locations): Margarita flights and delicious, authentic Mexican food options. Family-friendly.

  • Kopitos, Newberg: Mexican food with vegan and vegetarian options. Don't pass up the empanadas.

  • Wooden Heart, Dundee: Pizzas, pastas and seasonally changing menu with great drink list and friendly service.

  • Trellis, Dundee: Great date-night dinner spot. Would stop here for dessert only as well.

  • Conservatory Bar, McMinnville: Seasonally changing craft cocktails and small bites.
