Things to do in Atlanta

Explore

  • Ponce City Market: For a casual lunch, the food hall at Ponce City Market offers a variety of cuisines. Be sure to check the Ponce City Market Event Calendar for experiences including cocktail making classes and City Winery tours with tastings! You’ll also find a variety of retail stores and local finds. As a stationery lover, I always pop into Archer Paper Goods to pick up unique greeting cards.

  • Beltline: Whether you enjoy walking, biking, or just picnicking, journey along the Beltline’s 22-mile loop of trails and parks. You’ll view numerous art installations and murals along the path and might even encounter local musical performances. You can access the Beltline directly from Ponce City Market.

Tour

  • For art lovers, the High Museum of Art is one of the Southeast’s leading art museums. It houses over 20,000 works of American, European, African, and contemporary pieces.

  • Located on the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), the SCAD FASH Museum hosts dynamic exhibitions and educational events relating to the intersection of fashion and film.

Shop

  • For high-end shopping, Buckhead is known for its luxury designer stores and trendy boutiques. Stroll through the Buckhead Village District and then grab an afternoon glass of wine (and french fries) at Le Bilboquet.

  • Virginia Highland Books is a whimsical store to find your newest read. The lower level has a vast selection of coffee-table books.

  • The Merchant at Krog Street Market is a quaint shop featuring local art, unique gifts, stationery, decor, and so much more!

Places to eat & drink in Atlanta

Coffee

  • Chrome Yellow: This bright coffee shop and cafe roasts their beans on-site. They even serve macadamia nut milk as a dairy alternative, and their house-made vanilla bourbon syrup is lovely.

  • PERC: This coffee is another specialty roaster from Georgia, so you’ll find multiple locations throughout Atlanta.

Breakfast

  • Kinship Butcher & Sundry: Be prepared for a wait, but the breakfast sandwiches at Kinship are worth it! Shelves are stocked with wine, specialty items, and fresh produce, so you can also pick up snacks for a picnic along the Beltline.

  • Le Bon Nosh: This beautiful French restaurant in Buckhead is perfect for an elevated brunch with delightful cocktails.

  • The Little Tart Bakeshop: Little Tart has several locations, but the spacious Grant Park cafe is my favorite. The tahini sesame morning buns and any of the peach pastries (when in season) are always worth ordering.

Lunch

  • Delbar: Middle Eastern fare in a lively environment. Come hungry as the portions are generous. Visit the Inman Park location and then stroll along the Beltline afterwards.

Dinner

  • Staplehouse: New American restaurant known for seasonal tasting menus that change regularly. For a more casual option, grab a bottle of wine from their shelves and order pizza or a charcuterie board at the counter. The outdoor patio gives you a comfortable sense of dining in a friend’s backyard.

  • Yeppa & Co: Incredible Italian cuisine inspired by the Amalfi Coast town of Rimini. The tuna carpaccio and the cacio e pepe are two of my favorite dishes at this lively restaurant. Make a reservation in advance and request an outdoor table.

  • Brush Sushi: Acclaimed Japanese restaurant with unique sushi offerings. The service is attentive yet never overbearing. For an even more elevated experience, an omakase tasting menu is available.

  • Kimball House: New American restaurant in Decatur housed in a renovated train depot. The menu focuses on high-quality, local produce along with an extensive oyster selection. Be sure to order one of their inventive cocktails.

Need to know

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has consistently been named the busiest airport in the world and is also Delta Airline’s largest hub. Even if Atlanta isn’t your primary destination, I recommend extending a layover in the city to enjoy at least one memorable meal!

As the city is so vast, a rental car is recommended.
