Things to do in Türkiye

An Adventure Junkie’s Guide to Türkiye - Things to do

Adventure

When most people think of Türkiye, they picture the hot air balloons in Cappadocia. There is nothing quite like rising in a hot air balloon during a Turkish sunrise. Sail in any season over the incredibly unique fairy chimneys, and fall in love with the view.

An ATV ride in Cappadocia is one of the most exciting adventures in Türkiye. Drive on a quad bike during sunset, through the beautiful hills and valleys, and admire Cappadocia’s mesmerizing landscape.

Bodrum Peninsula is perfect for travelers chasing the sunshine. Spend a day sailing off the coast of this energetic town, soaking in the sun and experiencing beautiful views.

All year round, you can experience paragliding over the famous Oludinez beach. This destination is home of the Blue Lagoon, a UNESCO world heritage site. Choose the length of your flight, strap into the harness and enjoy a thrilling ride!

Nature & outdoors

Tahtalı Dağı (known as the Lycian Mount Olympus) is where the mountains meet the Mediterranean Sea. Zig-zag your way through the forest to be greeted with stunning views from the top of the mountain.

Butterfly Valley in the district of Fethiye is known for its wide variety of butterfly species. While in the valley, discover the secret beach along the Mediterranean coast.

History

Searching for your daily dose of history? Head to Ephesus, an ancient port city in modern-day Türkiye, and explore its well-preserved ruins. This city survived multiple attacks, and to this day is considered an important archaeological site.

Eat & drink in Türkiye

An Adventure Junkie’s Guide to Türkiye - Eat & drink

Bodrum

Zuma Bodrum: Residing in the summertime on Bodrum’s Yalıkavak Marina, this Japanese terrace eatery allows you to experience a unique Mediterranean setting while eating modern Japanese cuisine.

Istanbul

Pierre Loti Cafe: Get an afternoon pick-me-up at the open air cafe, Pierre Loti, which is a destination in itself. This cafe is perched atop a hill overlooking the seven hills of Istanbul. It will require a bit of a climb (a half mile from Eyup Mosque) but will be worth the effort, and you can take a cable car back down while admiring the golden horn.

Mikla: Consistently rated as one of Istanbul's top restaurants, Mikla's is urban, sleek and stylish and has magical views of the entire city including Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. Offers both a la carte and tasting menus.

Nicole: Dine your way through an 11-course tasting menu full of contemporary Mediterranean cuisine, complete with Old Town views and beyond. The restaurant has its own wine cellar, with local options as well as imported varieties. This will be a food experience you won’t forget.

Fethiye

Yacht Club Mori Restaurant: Restaurant set alongside the marina with fresh seafood and classic Turkish Cuisine.

D' Breeze Restaurant: Searching for incredible views? D’Breeze Restaurant located at D-Resort has incredible undisrupted sea views and deliciously prepared fresh seafood. When you’re done with your meal, head over to the resort’s Q Lounge for drinks by the seaside.

Need to Know

If you've always been dreaming of walking (or running!) between Asia and Europe, check the dates of your visit to see if it will be during the marathon. The marathon in Türkiye is the one time a year when you can cross the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul by foot.
