Things to do in Peru

Explore Machu Picchu: No trip to Peru is complete without discovering the iconic Incan citadel, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Hike the Inca Trail: Embark on a multi-day trek through stunning Andean landscapes, ending at Machu Picchu. Options of 2, 4 & 5-day treks (2-day, does not require camping if that is not your style). This is a great activity to hike the same trails that the Incas did and learn more about their way of life. This will also allow you to arrive at the Sun Gate overlooking Machu Picchu around sunset and the experience of seeing Machu Picchu nearly empty.
Visit the Sacred Valley: Explore ancient ruins, vibrant markets and charming villages in this historic region. Contact me at Boster.andrew@fora.travel if you are interested in a Sacred Valley tour that includes a stop at a local animal sanctuary where you can feed and pet Llamas and Alpacas and learn about the textile industry. A tour of the Sacred Valley is also a great way to start your visit to the Cusco & Machu Picchu areas. This activity does not require strenuous hiking and can help serve as an acclimation day to the altitude. It is nearly 2000+ ft closer to sea level compared to Cusco.
Discover Cusco: Wandering through the narrow, cobblestone streets, you’ll find remnants of ancient Inca walls interwoven with colonial structures, showcasing the city's layered past. The Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun), was once the most important temple in the Inca Empire. It now stands partially integrated into the Convent of Santo Domingo, illustrating the fascinating blend of cultures.
The historic center is also home to lively markets, vibrant cafes and charming boutiques, offering an immersive experience of Cusco's unique heritage and vibrant culture. It's a place where history comes alive, inviting travelers to explore its stories and treasures.
Experience Lake Titicaca: The lake is situated in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. It is the highest navigable lake in the world at an elevation of approximately 12,500 feet (3,810 meters) above sea level. Renowned for its stunning natural beauty, the lake boasts deep blue waters set against a backdrop of majestic mountains and sky-high altiplano. One of the lake's most captivating features is the Uros Floating Islands. These man-made islands were built from totora reeds by the indigenous Uros people, who have lived on the lake for centuries. Visitors can explore these islands, learn about the unique culture and way of life of the Uros and even ride in a traditional reed boat.
Tour the Nazca Lines: Fly over the mysterious geoglyphs etched into the desert floor. A tour of the Nazca Lines in Peru is an unforgettable adventure into one of the world's greatest archaeological mysteries. Located in the arid desert plains of southern Peru, the Nazca culture created these vast geoglyphs between 500 BCE and 500 CE. They cover a large area and depict various figures and shapes, including animals, plants and geometric patterns.
Explore the Amazon Rainforest: Take a guided tour through one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet. A typical rainforest stay/tour will include morning, afternoon and night activities such as rainforest walks, exploring the lakes and river via boat and visiting local villages.
Sandboard in Huacachina: Huacachina is a small, picturesque desert oasis town. It is located in southwestern Peru. Huacachina is renowned for its exhilarating sandboarding and dune buggy experiences. Adventurers can race down the massive dunes or take a thrilling ride across the desert landscape.
Visit Arequipa: Explore the "White City" and visit the stunning Colca Canyon.
Explore Lima: Visit museums, historic sites, and enjoy the vibrant food scene in Peru's capital.
Peru offers a wealth of experiences for travelers of all interests. Enjoy your adventure!
