Curator’s statement

As a lover of K-Dramas and K-Pop, I never run out of things to do and see in Seoul—every day feels like a new adventure. The city’s energy is unmatched, from bustling street markets and late-night food stalls to beautiful palaces and scenic river walks. What makes it truly special is the warmth and style of the people, who bring the culture to life through fashion, music, and everyday interactions. It effortlessly unites timeless traditions with a modern vibe, creating an atmosphere that feels vibrant, engaging, and unforgettable.

Places to eat & drink in Seoul

  • JD BBQ: Korean BBQ restaurant loved by K-Pop idols in the heart of Itaewon. Very tasty rib sets. Try the LA Galbi.

  • Tudari (투다리): A popular Korean pub chain known for its kimchi udon and various grilled skewers (Yakitori style). Highly recommend the chicken and green onion skewers.

  • Yeokjeon Halmek (역전할머니맥주): Another popular pub chain known for its light ice beer. A great place to hang out with friends after a long day of walking all around Seoul.

  • DanBam (단밤) or SeoulBam (서울밤): A Korean restaurant popularized by the K-Drama Itaewon Class. Popular dishes include Sundubu Jjigae (Spicy Soft Tofu Stew) and braised pork.

  • Maple House: If you’re craving a classic American breakfast, Maple House is the perfect spot. From fluffy pancakes to hearty omelets, it’s a place to enjoy a comforting taste of home.

Need to know

  • Master the subway system: Easiest way to get around. Make sure to grab a T-Money card at the airport or convenience store to ride the bus, subway, and taxis.

  • Always carry a little cash: Cards are widely accepted, but some smaller street vendors (like in Gwangjang Market) may only take cash.

  • Seoul is solo travel-friendly: There are plenty of things to explore even by yourself.

  • Essential apps: KakaoMap or Naver Map, Papago for real-time translation

  • Trash cans are rare: Carry a small bag for your trash until you find a trash can.

  • Wear comfortable shoes: Lots and lots of walking, so make sure to bring your comfiest pair of shoes.
