Things to do in Santa Fe

Scenic vistas await on the Sky Railway in Santa Fe, NM.
Art & history
Southwest flair meets history in Santa Fe, where art and culture thrive at every turn. Kick off your visit at the Loretto Chapel and marvel at its “miraculous” staircase. Wrapped in mystery and defying engineering logic, this quiet gem near Santa Fe Plaza sets the tone for the city’s spiritual allure. Get inspired at the New Mexico Museum of Art, showcasing over 20,000 works, with a focus on artists creating art in the Southwest, before heading down Canyon Road. With 100+ art galleries, studios, and restaurants housed in adobe buildings, it’s the perfect place to find a new work of art for your collection. Feeling crafty? Stop by Tumbleroot Pottery Pub and grab a flight of spirits (keep it local and go with the agave!) while making your own masterpiece.
Shop & wander
Get the lay of the land in the heart of Santa Fe, where boutiques, galleries, pocket parks, and restaurants surround you. Shop local and bring home the best of the American Southwest, from housewares to turquoise jewelry and everything in between. Browse artisan rugs, antiques, and one-of-a-kind furniture at Seret & Sons and Mediterrania on Galisteo Street. Pick up some good vibrations at Turquoise House, where Joe will be waiting to help you select from rings, bracelets, and more that you’ll wear on repeat. For the perfect souvenir, take home a miniature ceramic adobe home from Mostly By Nature, found at the corner of Water and Galisteo.
Scenery & solitude
Try a new take on a night out with a sunset serenade aboard the Sky Railway, winding through the Galisteo Basin. Ride in the open-air car to feel the breeze and capture that golden hour selfie, or upgrade to The Acoma, a first-class train car once graced by Judy Garland, Clark Gable, and Jack Benny. A complimentary glass of champagne and an elevated bar menu makes it even more memorable. For a different kind of view, hike to the Cross of the Martys, just 15 minutes from downtown, for a panoramic sunrise or sunset overlooking the city. Wellness culture and Santa Fe go hand-in-hand, with no shortage of serene escapes. Ten minutes from downtown, Ten Thousand Waves is a standout. This Japanese-inspired lodge blends romance and relaxation with tranquil gardens, plunge pools, waterfalls, saunas, and an extensive menu of spa treatments.
