Day 1: Arrival & London icons

National Gallery (taken by me)
Arriving at London Heathrow, we made our way to the hotel to settle in before diving into the city.
We kicked off with a hearty brunch at Regency Cafe, then strolled through Green Park before witnessing the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. (Check the schedule—it can be oddly timed).
From there, we explored Westminster Abbey, admired the House of Parliament and Big Ben, and wandered around Trafalgar Square, finishing the day with incredible art at the National Gallery.
Day 2: London highlights & high tea

View from Tower Bridge (taken by me)
We started the morning with a full English breakfast at Giraffe Victoria, fueling up for a day of exploration.
Highlights included Tower Bridge (with engine room tour), St. Paul’s Cathedral (absolutely breathtaking), and a guided tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
A leisurely walk through Hyde Park led us to The Hyde for high tea. (Reservations recommended—the staff was amazing).
We wrapped the day with the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, and classic fish and chips at Masters.
Day 3: Paris by train & city sights

Pop-up igloo bar on the first floor of Eiffel Tower (taken by me)
We boarded a morning train to Paris, checked into the hotel (many have luggage hold if arriving early), and began our Parisian adventure.
We adored the Orsay Museum, especially Van Gogh’s works, then visited Arc de Triomphe (climb to the top for photos with the Eiffel Tower in the background), and a hot chocolate in the little pop-up igloo hut on the first level.
Evening experiences included the Catacombs, Café de Flore, and a Seine River cruise with live music and drinks (purely romantic).
Day 4: Versailles & Paris evenings

Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles (taken by me)
A day trip to the Palace of Versailles was a must. We did a private tour, which made it intimate and customizable. Exploring the town’s cute shops and tasting hot chocolate and small bites was a delight.
Back in Paris, lunch at Le Bistrot Valois offered a boutique, charming atmosphere.
We then went on to explore the Louvre at our own pace, visited Notre Dame, and ended with a wine tasting at O Chateau (reservations required; highly social and fun), finishing with dinner at Baltard au Louvre with a traditional French meal.
Day 5: Paris to Lucerne

View of Lucerne from Chapel Bridge (taken by me)
We started the day with a traditional Parisian breakfast at Cafe la Chaufferie, then made our way to the stunning Sainte-Chapelle.
We then spent the afternoon wandering through the Latin Quarter before boarding our train to Lucerne.
Upon arrival, we checked into the hotel and admired the Chapel Bridge, ending the day with dinner at Restaurant Fritschi.
Day 6: Lucerne & Mount Pilatus

Top of Mount Pilatus, 7,000 ft (taken by me)
The morning included further exploration of Chapel Bridge, the Old Town, and Church of St. Leodeger.
The highlight of the trip was Mount Pilatus. We took gondolas to the top, stopping at each level to explore the trails.
Lunch at Restaurant Pilatus-Kulm felt like dining above the clouds, followed by an afternoon of snow activities, including toboggan rentals.
Truly a fairytale day.
Day 7: Lucerne to Zurich

Dying Lion Monument (taken by me)
We visited Glacier Gardens and the Dying Lion Monument, then took the train to Zurich.
After checking in, we wandered Lindenhof Hill, admired Fraumunster and Grossmunster, and explored Kunsthaus.
Zurich’s charm is calm yet vibrant, making it a perfect city stop.
Day 8: Rhine Falls & Zurich culture

Rhine Falls
We took a day trip to Rhine Falls, where the sheer power and scale of the water made it one of the most striking natural sights of the trip.
Back in Zurich, we slowed things down with coffee at H. Schwarzenbach and a stop at Confiserie Sprungli for chocolates and pastries that are truly worth the hype.
We ended the day soaking in Zurich's refined atmosphere, appreciating how effortlessly the city blends nature, culture, and quiet sophistication.
Day 9: History, heart & biergartens

Munich, Germany
We traveled by train to Munich, beginning the day with a meaningful visit to Dachau Concentration Camp, an important and sobering experience that adds depth and perspective to the journey.
Back in the city, we explored Marienplatz, Neues Rathaus, and Michaelskirche, then enjoyed Bavarian flavors at Bapas Bayerische Tapas and Servus Heidi.
The evening wrapped up at the iconic Hofbrauhaus and Giesinger Garten, where Munich’s lively beer-garden culture made for a fun, celebratory end to the day.
Day 10: Neuschwanstein Castle day trip

Neuschwanstein Castle (taken by me)
A round-trip bus took us to Neuschwanstein Castle—a fairytale highlight. The hike uphill is steep, but horse-drawn carriages are available.
Touring both the castles and museum offer a glimpse into the Bayerischen Konige, with lunch at Restaurant Schloss-Braustuberl.
We ended the day exploring local shops before heading back to Munich.
Day 11: Departure & re-entry

My husband and I walking the trails on Mount Pilatus (taken by me)
Flying home from Munich Airport, we gave ourselves extra time to navigate the large, confusing airport. An early arrival is essential to avoid stress.
As the journey winds down, we used the flight home to reflect, organize photos, and mentally ease back into everyday life.

A note from Blake Greene-Kawar
Plan a lighter first day back, unpack slowly, and hold onto one simple habit from the trip (like morning coffee without rushing) to keep that honeymoon feeling a little longer.
Need to know
A few things that made the trip smoother:
Pack light. Train travel is easiest with manageable luggage and stations often have stairs.
Book major attractions and trains in advance, especially Eiffel Tower access, Versailles tours, Mount Pilatus, and Neuschwanstein Castle.
Keep comfortable walking shoes in rotation—even with trains, you’ll walk far more than expected.
Lastly, build in downtime. Europe rewards slow mornings, lingering meals, and flexibility, and some of our favorite moments came from simply wandering without a plan.
