Curator’s statement

If La Paz, Mexico, were described as Cabo San Lucas's younger sibling, it might be depicted as a quieter, more laid-back destination with a focus on natural beauty and outdoor adventures. While Cabo San Lucas is known for its vibrant nightlife, bustling marina, and luxury resorts, La Paz offers a more tranquil atmosphere, pristine beaches, and opportunities for eco-tourism activities such as snorkeling, diving, and whale watching. La Paz is often praised for its authentic Mexican charm and slower pace of life compared to the more bustling and tourist-centric vibe of Cabo San Lucas.

Nestled along the tranquil shores of the Sea of Cortez, La Paz, Mexico, boasts a remarkable abundance of marine life, with one-third of the Earth’s marine mammals calling these waters home. A must-do for visitors is to embark on a boat ride to explore the islands dotting the coastline and the secluded coves to the south, where crystal-clear turquoise waters reveal dolphins, whales, sea turtles, sea lions, and a diverse array of fish.

Evenings in La Paz are spent strolling along the peaceful Malecon boardwalk, bustling with runners and families soaking in the warm weather and serene atmosphere. And the culinary scene in downtown La Paz is a delight, where my husband and I savored countless memorable meals and discovered our fondness for Mezcalitas—a smoky twist on the classic margarita.
