If you decide to venture out, here are some nearby places to explore:

  • Birr Castle & Gardens - A Glorious Centre of Science and Horticulture, home to 50 of the rarest trees in Ireland, home of the Great Leviathan Telescope built by William Parsons, the third Earl of Rosse in 1845.

  • Emo Court- 18th Century Mansion and Landscaped Gardens - home to the Earls of Portarlington until the War of Independence, it was taken over by the Jesuits until it was restored in the 1960s and opened for the public.

  • Heywood Gardens- the original house that was developed in the 18th century was demolished after a fire in the 1950s, but the gardens developed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll in the early 2oth century make up the park.

  • Tullynally Castle & Gardens- the gothic castle is still a family home, but it’s open for tours that should be booked in advance.

  • Kilkenny Town & Kilkenny Castle- in the heart of the Medieval City, one of the oldest castles in Ireland, over 800 years ago.

  • The K Club - Arnold Palmer-designed golf course 81 km from the manor.

Places to eat & drink in Ireland

Imagine being greeted by a glass of champagne at arrival, afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and a gourmet dinner when you arrive in your beautiful manor. The next morning, you are greeted with a full Irish breakfast, and continue your gourmet escape. This all inclusive rate is exclusive to our clients and also includes mini-bar soft drinks, snacks, laundry and pressing.

At the helm of the restaurants is a Michelin starred chef, Richard Picard-Edwards, who works with the garden team to get the freshest ingredients from the property and the local butchers and fishermen. Enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the grand Dining Room in the main house, an alternative is the magical lunch in the glass conservatory, accessed through a bookcase in the library or a more casual dinner with drinks in the Cellar hidden in the old servant’s hall.

Need to know

Although perfect for families, for individual reservations, children are welcome over age of nine years and at any age when the house is reserved for exclusive use.
