Days 1-2: Zurich

Pilatus-Train-Switzerland-Shea

After your travels, take a moment to settle in and prepare for an adventure through the lovely city of Zurich. If your hotel doesn't offer bicycles (though many do), consider borrowing one to explore the historic old town and the vibrant neighborhoods nearby. For those with a sweet tooth, don't miss the Lindt Museum: a chocolate lover’s dream! Art enthusiasts can satisfy their cravings at Kunsthaus. Lastly, pack a picnic and make your way to Lindenhof–this quaint park atop a hill offers stunning views of Zurich's historic old town.

Days 3-5: Exploring Lucerne, Hike, Spa

Lake Lucerne

Begin your exploration in Lucerne's charming Old Town, with its cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and colorful frescoes. Visit the iconic Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), one of Lucerne's signature landmarks.

Experience gorgeous Lake Lucerne by boat or taking a relaxing walk along the lakeside promenade. Depending on the season, you could kayak or even go for a swim.

Go for a hike on Mount Pilatus, one of Lucerne's most famous mountains. If hiking isn’t your thing, you can take a cable car or cogwheel railway to reach the summit. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, and there are trails and restaurants to explore.

If you are staying at the Burgenstock, be sure to schedule time at their world-renowned spa. Fun fact: Audrey Hepburn married Mel Ferrer in the chapel on the property!

Days 6: Train to Milan

The majestic Duomi di Milano

The train journey from Lucerne to Milan (approximately 2 ½ hours) is quite picturesque, especially as the train passes through the Swiss Alps. The train route takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Switzerland, including snow-capped mountains, lush green valleys, and crystal-clear lakes.

Upon your arrival, spend an afternoon and evening enjoying the charms of Milano.

Some highlights: visit the magnifico Duomo di Milano, and The Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie. If you are a music buff, you will want to visit La Scala Opera House, where the acoustics are a wonder.

Enjoy dinner at Da Giacomo or Paper Moon for some wonderful Milanese ambiance and wonderful eats.

Day 7: Arrive in Lake Como and Explore Bellagio

Lake Como

Wander the alluring narrow streets and piazzas of Bellagio. Satisfy your shopping desires while in town: find some exquisite leather at Quelli della Pelle and gorgeous silks at Azalea.

Explore the verdant gardens at Villa Melzi. Pack a couple Birra Moretti’s in your bag for a relaxed afternoon in the park.

For dinner, enjoy a romantic meal by the water at Ristorante La Punta or if you prefer to be closer to town, the Ristorante Bilacus, is exquisite.

Day 8-9: Boat Tour, Villas, and Quaint Towns

View of Lake Como with Flowers

Indulge in the serene beauty of Lake Como by embarking on a boat tour. Your aquatic journey will include a stop at Villa Carlotta to enjoy the beautiful gardens and fabulous art. From the boat you can view gorgeous Villa del Balbianello and the beautiful waterfall in Nesso. Pause for a sumptuous lakeside pranzo (lunch) on the patio of La Darsena in Tremezzo.

For an enchanting day trip, visit the picturesque town of Varenna. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the water into town. Stop off in Piazza San Giorgio for some gelato and a quiet respite. Be sure to check out the oldest church on the lake - the 10th-century San Giovanni Battista.

Day 10: Head to Verona

signage-verona-travel-guide

A romantic journey for two requires a stop in our star-crossed lovers home of Verona. Stroll through the cobblestone streets to Casa di Giulietta, where you’ll find a statue of Juliet herself, and her iconic balcony–irresistible, even though we all know it’s a tale of fiction. If the stars align, check out the Roman Arena for a concert or an opera. Meander through the vibrant Piazza delle Erbe to enjoy the lively markets. Savor an exquisite dinner at Bottega Vini, the perfect end to your day in this romantic haven.

Day 11-14: Venice

Gondolas in a city canal with buildings around.

Beyond exploring the quintessential landmarks of Piazza San Marco, the iconic Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and the Palazzo dei Dogi, be sure to make sure to carve out time for leisurely strolls through the labyrinthine alleyways and serene canals. If your Venetian sojourn leads you to Hotel Danieli, do not miss the opportunity to behold the centuries-old lobby fresco, a captivating snapshot of Venice’s storied history. Soak up the best of the city by venturing into the charming barcari for cicchetti, delectable small plates deeply woven into the fabric of Venetian cuisine and local culture. Savor an ombra (a petite glass of wine) alongside your cicchetti at Cantine del Vino Già Schiavi.

Enjoy your last moments in this incredible place before heading back to the hotel to pack before your departure.
