Curator’s statement
The Serengeti is an adventure and nature lover's paradise, best visited during the dry season from June to October when wildlife viewing is at its peak. Here, you'll witness the spectacular migration of wildebeests and zebras, along with sightings of lions, elephants and cheetahs in their natural habitats. Experiencing these animals in the wild is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, offering unforgettable moments of natural beauty and awe.

Day 1: Transfer to Hotel & Relax

Upon landing, your hotel may be a one to two-hour drive depending on the airstrip. This journey doubles as a game drive where you can spot lions, elephants and zebras. Once at the hotel, unwind by the pool and savor a serene dinner in the wilderness. For the best experience, plan your visit to align with the great migration.
Day 2: Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride

Sunrise hot air balloon ride, which includes breakfast, transportation and a champagne toast. Miracle Tours is the best. The only one with “off road” access.
Day 3: Game Drive

Full-day game drive!
The drive we did was from 8am to 5pm, with a hotel-provided lunch pack. Limited bathroom breaks, so monitor water intake. The west side of the park is where we spotted the most animals.

My pro tips:
Lodging - In the Serengeti, customize your experience based on your budget, from luxury to camping. Accommodations usually provide all meals. Choose your base wisely, considering you'll be out exploring most of the day. Your tour operator/driver will stay on the property with you throughout your stay.
Serengeti activity planning - Plan ahead for your preferred activities as availability depends on your location and accommodation choice. The main attractions are full-day game drives and hot air balloon tours, providing unique perspectives. Other options include guided nature walks, birdwatching and cultural visits to local communities.
Areas within the Serengeti - I stayed in the Western Corridor for a prime view of the Great Migration's Grumeti River crossing in the Serengeti. Explore the Central Serengeti for year-round game viewing, the Southern Serengeti for the mesmerizing calving season and the Northern Serengeti for dramatic river crossings near Maasai Mara. Each region offers a unique Serengeti adventure.
When to start planning - Begin planning and booking safari companies and accommodations at least two months in advance, or even earlier, especially during peak seasons. It's crucial to have your entire trip arranged before your arrival. While some hotels like the Four Seasons offer all-inclusive services, many others do not, so reaching out to safari companies ahead of time is essential.
Getting to the Serengeti - You have two choices: a 5-10 hour drive or a 40-minute flight from Arusha. It's crucial to select the correct airstrip from about six options. When booking lodging, consider proximity and the limited daily flights.
