Vienna

In early November, I headed to Vienna to visit my daughter while she was on a business trip. And, naturally, being the travel advisor I am, we extended the stay and turned it into a wonderful European adventure. Her work event was held at the Andaz Vienna. While the hotel was well appointed and design forward, it definitely had a business-centric feel and was a bit removed from the charm of Old Town and the city’s most atmospheric spots.
Once the conference wrapped, we checked into the Rosewood Vienna, and it absolutely lived up to every expectation. Its location in Old Town was perfection! It was central and walkable to almost everything. A few Christmas markets were already open, giving us the perfect chance to slip into the holiday spirit. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the service was excellent, and it was truly everything I had hoped for.
During our time in Vienna, I also visited the Almanac and the legendary Hotel Sacher. The Sacher is iconic, elegant, and full of old-world Viennese charm. It felt like stepping directly into the city’s history. The Almanac was beautifully designed and well located, but for me, it ranked just below the Sacher and the Rosewood.
Traveler’s tip: Vienna has fabulous vintage shopping. I found gorgeous high-end designer clothes, bags, and shoes and I felt like I could have spent another few days shopping there. Every store is closed on Sundays so that was a bit of a bummer since it was our last day.
Prague

After three nights in Vienna, we hired a private car service through to take us to Prague. It wasn’t the cheapest option, but it was by far the most convenient and comfortable.
We arrived in Prague in the late afternoon and checked into the Four Seasons Prague, beginning three days in what truly felt like a storybook world. From cocktails at Black Angel’s Bar to memorable meals in Old Town, everything felt wonderful and we really enjoyed that contrast of the two cities. We also did a vintage car tour of Prague so we could see all of the highlights on our short stay.
After three lovely nights, we boarded a flight from Prague and continued on to Paris.

A note from Angela
Important note on shopping/VAT: If you're shopping in Prague and planning to claim a VAT refund, you can only receive the refund if you depart for home directly from Prague. Because we flew on to Paris afterward, we were unable to collect a VAT refund for items purchased in Prague, even though the store assured us otherwise. Just make sure you are heading out of the EU after.
Paris

For our final stop, we stayed at Hôtel Barrière Fouquet’s Paris, and this very Parisian hotel truly felt like Paris. The service was impeccable, and the property is completing a full renovation of the lobby area, which is going to be stunning and exactly the refresh it needed. I loved this hotel. Located in the 8th arrondissement, it was busy and quite touristy, but ideal for a first-time visitor who wants to be in the center of everything. Dining at the iconic Fouquet’s on our last night was a treat—delicious, and delightfully vibey and glamorous.
In Paris, we shopped, dined at incredible restaurants, and took a vintage sidecar tour up to Montmartre, which was a highlight. They picked us up right in front of the hotel and dropped us wherever we wished afterward. It was such a fun, unique way to see the city. For newcomers to Paris, you can choose to visit the main sites during this tour.
Overall, the combination of Vienna, Prague, and Paris made for a perfect itinerary, blending history, charm, culture, food, and style. I couldn’t possibly have had more fun than I did.
