Advisor - 48 Hours in Positano: La Dolce Vita
Curator’s statement

I visited Positano on my honeymoon and had the most unforgettable time. The food and drinks alone are reason enough to go—but when you pair them with the stunning views in every direction, it feels almost unreal. This is an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves being by the water and soaking in coastal beauty.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Holly to book your trip.

Day 1: Via Cristoforo Colombo, sunset cruise & Montepertuso

Morning

Start slow with a cappuccino and sfogliatella at a seaside café like Collina Bakery or Bar Buca di Bacco.

Stroll through Via Cristoforo Colombo, browsing ceramic shops and linen boutiques. Stop at Santa Maria Assunta Church. Travel tip: Bring good shoes, as there are a lot of stairs—and wander off the main drag to find quiet alleys with sea views.

Lunch

A must-see, Chez Black sits right on Spiaggia Grande. If there are two of you, order a pasta and pizza to share—both are amazing! This is the perfect spot for people- and boat-watching. My husband and I loved our experience so much, we went back the next day!

Afternoon

Book a private or small-group sunset cruise. Set out from the marina and sail past the Li Galli Islands, with a chilled glass of Prosecco (or beer) in hand. Swim off the boat and watch the sunset.

Dinner

Head up into the hills of Montepertuso for dinner at La Tagliata, a family run trattoria with panoramic views. There’s no menu—just course after course of homemade southern Italian dishes and great entertainment and views throughout your meal. We were up on our feet singing and dancing with the staff and other patrons!

Why it’s special: You’re dining in someone’s extended home, with food that feels passed down through generations. They also offer free transportation from any hotel if you are staying in Positano.

Day 2: Praiano

Morning

After a light breakfast, catch a water taxi to Praiano, Positano’s quieter neighbor. The 15-minute ride gives you a new perspective on the coastline. If you want a less expensive stay, these hotels are a good option (just know if you want to drive in a car/taxi, it will cost you about $40 one way, despite the close proximity).

Lunch

Tucked into a cove in Praiano, Il Pirata is perched directly on the rocks. Start with crudo di mare (raw seafood), then savor lemon-scented pasta with prawns or grilled octopus, with the sea practically right below your feet. Bonus: Bring your swimsuit. There’s a small platform below the restaurant perfect for a dip before heading back to Positano.

Afternoon

Return to Fornillo Beach—a quieter alternative to Spiaggia Grande. Rent a lounger, take a dip, and order an Aperol Spritz from the casual beach bar. If you would like to head back to Spiaggia Grande, head to Rada Beach Bar for a glass (or bottle) or rosé!

Evening

For your final dinner, return to Chez Black or try Zass at Il San Pietro for a Michelin-starred sunset splurge.

Need to know

This 48-hour itinerary captures the essence of Positano: a place where history, food, and the sea blend into something unforgettable. Take lots of photos!
