Curator’s statement
There’s a quiet luxury to St. Simons Island that you don’t just see. You feel it. It’s the kind of place where time stretches out, the sweet tea tastes like your grandma made it, and life is just easy. Recently named the “Best Underrated Travel Destination in the US” by the New York Post, St. Simons has this magnetic pull that feels personal. It’s a coastal Georgia gem I often recommend to clients who want that soulful, slow-living energy, but with just enough to do if the mood strikes. Whether you’re chasing sunrises, savoring seafood, or finally taking that deep exhale, you’ll get it here.

Things to do on St. Simons Island

Climb the St. Simons Lighthouse: There’s something grounding about standing at the top, looking out at the sea. Climb the 129 steps and take a moment at the top to just be, it's just something about a lighthouse that gives you hope.
Bike the island trails: Renting a beach cruiser is non-negotiable. The paths through oak trees dripping with Spanish moss feel like something out of a storybook. I’m a Southern girl, so take my recommendation: start early before it gets hot and end with a stop at Palm Coast for an iced coffee.
Dolphin sunset cruise: This is one of those “wow” moments that stays with you. I’ve seen dolphins leap beside the boat as the sky turns cotton-candy pink. It is a sight to see. Book a tour around golden hour. You won’t regret it.
East Beach: This is my go-to for a solo morning walk or an unplugged afternoon with a good book.
Christ Church, Frederica: One of the most peaceful spots on the island. I’ve sat under the trees here more than once to journal or just pause. It has that kind of energy.
Outer Banks film locations: Fun fact: some scenes from Outer Banks were filmed here. It’s always a fun scavenger hunt if you’re a fan, and yes, it still feels like a secret.
Places to eat & drink on St. Simons Island

Southern Soul Barbeque: You’ll smell it before you see it, and that’s your cue to pull over. It’s casual, it’s messy, and it’s some of the best BBQ in Georgia.
Georgia Sea Grill: When I want something more refined but still coastal, this is where I go. I’ve been told their shrimp & grits with a glass of crisp white wine is Chef’s kiss. Because I can’t have seafood, I opted for the Braised Short Ribs.
Palm Coast Coffee, Cafe & Pub: My happy place. Morning coffee or tea on the patio, then I come back later for wine and live music. It’s got real “I could live here” energy.
The Crab Trap: Perfect for that first-night dinner when you want laid-back vibes and beachy bites. Pro tip: don’t skip the hush puppies.
ECHO: If you’re brunching (and you should be), this is the spot. Oceanfront views, strong mimosas, and seasonal dishes that always hit.
Need to know
Ditch the rental car if you’re staying near the village. Biking or scooting around in a golf cart is way more fun, and parking is no joke during peak weekends.
Golden Isles Airport (BQK) makes this an easy-in, easy-out destination with Delta flights through ATL.
Spring and fall are my favorite seasons here. Fewer crowds, better breezes, and perfect for outdoor everything.
Jekyll Island is worth the detour, especially for families or anyone who loves a good historical rabbit hole.
Vacation rentals are on the move. I love recommending marsh-view bungalows or modern beach cottages, especially for multigenerational trips or girl getaways.
