Things to do in Columbus, Ohio

Golf equipment.

The Memorial Tournament is held at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, just outside Columbus. In addition to taking in all of the top-notch PGA Tour golf action, here are some other activities to round out your visit.

The Jack Nicklaus Museum, on the campus of The Ohio State University, offers 12,000 square feet of golf history including a Masters Green Jacket and 6 Masters trophies.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is one of the nation's premier zoos! If you are traveling with kids, this is a must-do. If the weather is warm, the colossal Zoombezi Bay waterpark next door is the perfect place to cool off. Safari Golf Club is also adjacent.

Bridge Park in Dublin is the region's newest dining, nightlife and shopping district. It's the perfect area to base yourself for your time at The Memorial Tournament.

Columbus Food Adventures offer more than a dozen culinary tours based in various dining hot spot neighborhoods. The Dublin Walking Tour is a logical pick for your trip to The Memorial Tournament.

More golf! Known as the home of Jack Nicklaus, the Columbus area is a top amateur golf destination. Numerous courses are open to the public. With so many golfers in town, be sure to book your tee time in advance. I recommend trying out the par 70 Glenross Golf Club.

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is in its prime of the season during The Memorial Tournament. Located near downtown Columbus, this long-standing institution offers many acres of outdoor gardens, a children's play area and historic indoor spaces showcasing exotic plants and Dale Chihuly art.

Worthington Farmer's Market is the area's largest farmer's market. It sets up shop each Saturday morning to showcase local produce, bakery and antiques. Numerous restaurants offer brunch and charming shops open early. Bridge Park hosts the smaller Dublin Market on Saturdays too.

For outdoor lovers, the area's diverse Metro Parks are top destinations. Highbanks Metro Park and Glacier Ridge Metro Park are two excellent options nearby.

Places to eat & drink in Columbus, Ohio

North Market Bridge Park showcases 12 local tastemakers offering food for dine-in or to-go, gifts and groceries.

VASO is a contemporary rooftop dining venue in Bridge Park with views of the Scioto River. Top menu features include Spanish-style tapas and seasonal cocktails. Private cabana packages are a great option to entertain a group.

The Avenue Steak Tavern offers throwback classics like steaks and seafood. Part of top restauranteur Cameron Mitchell's portfolio. True steak lovers will want to add The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek or Jeff Ruby's to their itinerary as well.

Kona Craft Kitchen & Bar is locally-owned destination for excellent 100% Kona coffee and morning pastries but be sure to return for craft cocktails and dinner from their scratch kitchen.

Tucci's features a high-quality wine program alongside steaks, fish and Italian classics. Try their brunch on the huge outdoor patio Friday-Sunday.

Joya's is a recent newcomer run by Top Chef contestant Avishar Barua. He describes it as "A Seriously Fun Bengali American Daytime Café ...with a few evening surprises." Located in charming Old Worthington.

Columbus is home to premium Jeni's Ice Cream. Scoop shops are located throughout the metro area. Don't miss Middle West Whiskey and Pecans featuring a beloved local distillery or her classic Goat Cheese with Red Cherries.

The East Market — If you visit the Franklin Park Conservatory, don't miss having lunch at The East Market in the Historic Trolley District. Among many options there, the Columbus Brewing Company Beer Hall is located in a renovated 12,000 square foot former trolley repair shop and has a globally-inspired menu and 24 beer taps.
