Curator’s statement
Kolkata is special to me because I experienced it through one of the most meaningful moments of my life, celebrating my friend’s wedding and seeing the city where she grew up. Spending 10 days immersed in Indian wedding traditions revealed the depth, beauty, and intentionality behind the week-long celebrations, from the turmeric and henna ceremonies to the astrology guided nighttime vows and sacred rituals. I fell in love with the culture through its food, festivals, and the warmth of being welcomed into their family. Witnessing daily life and cultural norms firsthand made this journey feel less like a trip and more like an initiation into something deeply ancestral and joyful.
