Advisor - Mountains and More: Welcome to Park City
Curator’s statement

My husband has been skiing since he could walk, and his family's ski town of choice has always been Park City. I've been lucky enough to visit several times, and it's a cool town with a lot of character! There is plenty to do year-round in the great outdoors, but the city also has a fantastic food scene that may not be on everyone's radar. If you're more of a snow lodge bunny like me, then this guide is for you!

Things to do in Park City, Utah

For the non-sporty:

  • Historic Main Street: Probably the most iconic part of the city. Main Street is chock full of shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafes that can easily entertain for hours. Don't miss the Banksy piece featured on The Java Cow's building!

  • The Egyptian Theatre: Built in the 1920's, this theater has been an integral part of the Sundance Film Festival since the event was created. Not only is the Egyptian-inspired design incredible, but you can catch some live shows here year-round.

  • Kimball Art Center: Featuring exhibits dedicated to Utah's landscapes, the American West and more. Exploring this art center is a great option for something a little lower energy. Park City has a vibrant art scene, and starting that deep dive at Kimball is a great start.

For the sportier:

  • Deer Valley Resort: Wildly popular as a skiers-only resort, Deer Valley is known for its comfortable lodges and world-class food (no, really). The turkey chili is literally legendary, but give their ramen a try too.

  • Woodward Park City: An all-in-one activity location that covers a variety of sports regardless of the season. They have a huge indoor facility featuring a skate park, foam pits, etc. and an expansive outdoor region covering mountain biking, tubing and more.

  • Utah Olympic Park: This park offers a cool glimpse into Park City's experience as the host to the 2002 Winter Olympics. You can attend tours, check out competitions held at the park or even try out their bobsled experience (if you're there during the winter).

Everything in between:

  • National Ability Center: You really can't talk about Park City without mentioning the NAC. They do incredible work redefining and improving sports for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. If you're traveling with folks who may benefit from these activities, their calendar is full of options for you to choose from!

  • Sundance Film Festival: Sundance is hands-down one of the busiest times of year for Park City. If you're a film nerd like myself, it's surprisingly straightforward to get tickets to some showings or events featuring your favorite celebrities. Events take place throughout Park City all the way to Salt Lake City, so a little less localized compared to other things to do around town.

Places to eat & drink in Park City, Utah

Eat:

  • 350 Main: A refined and delicious menu taking advantage of Utah's agriculture scene. A great option for a special occasion or bougie night out. I've never had a bad meal here. FYI: the elk chops are worth it.

  • Yuki Yama Sushi: Honestly, I wouldn't have expected Park City to have the best access to sushi, but I was violently proven wrong. Yuki Yama's sushi and sashimi were fresh, creative and fairly priced. Definitely arrive hungry!

  • Silver Star Cafe: Unfortunately, not on Main Street, but one of the solid breakfast options in Park City. Their menu covers a bunch of dietary restrictions, and service tends to be fast/efficient. The butter coffee cake is a must-order.

Drink:

  • Old Town Cellars: We stumbled upon this wine bar on our most recent visit. Definitely on the bougier side of things, but they make up for it with an excellent wine list with unique options. If you're looking for a quieter vibe with a small group, this fits the bill nicely.

  • The Spur Bar & Grill: If you're looking for a night out à la your college glory days (but a little less gross), this is the place to go. Super lively spot with solid bartenders, live music and various areas to hang out with some friends.

  • No Name Saloon: A Park City mainstay with eclectic decor and fantastic vibe. This is typically where you'll see the best mix of locals and visitors in Park City, which says a lot. What you see is what you get at No Name, and that's good enough for me.

Be merry:

  • Java Cow Coffee & Ice Cream: A fun shop with a bunch of cute souvenirs and unique ice cream selection! A popular option for an afternoon sweet treat or a way to kill a little time off Main Street.

  • Harvest: On the healthier side of things, Harvest has options for everyone. This is a go-to for me as far as lunch goes, but their coffee and smoothies are top-notch too. Plus, depending on the location, a very good teleworking spot if you need one!
