Advisor - Wine Country Mother/Daughter Trip: A 5-Day Napa Valley Itinerary
Curator’s statement

As a mother-daughter duo, we wanted a getaway that blended ease, elegance and enjoyment - and Napa delivered on all counts. From the first vineyard tasting to our spa day and birthday dinner, the trip was a perfect mix of celebration and connection. Napa's charm lies in its slower pace and sensory richness, and this itinerary reflects how a few thoughtfully planned days can feel like a true escape.

Where to stay

Unlock perks by contacting Dana to book your trip.

Day 1: Arrival & elevated dining

The Pomegranate Neighborhood at Carneros

Upon arrival at SFO, enjoy a scenic one-hour drive to Carneros Resort & Spa — whether by rental car, pre-booked black car or Uber. Your private, standalone cottage awaits, tucked into one of the resort’s charming neighborhoods named after local flora like Lavender, Fig and Juniper.

Take time to settle in and unwind before heading just down the road to Bear at Stanly Ranch for a thoughtfully crafted dinner in a stunning setting.

Travel tip: Book your dinner early to catch golden hour views over the vineyards.

Day 2: Vineyard visit & downtown Napa

Wine tasting setup at Matthiasson

Start your day with a complimentary breakfast at Hilltop, exclusive to Carneros guests and known for its sweeping vineyard views.

In the afternoon, enjoy a personalized tasting at Matthiasson Wines, a small-production, appointment-only winery offering an intimate experience.

Next, head to Oxbow Public Market for a variety of local bites — we loved the pizza from Live Fire Pizza. After lunch, spend time exploring downtown Napa, with its charming boutiques and wine bars. Stop into Compline for a glass or two, then choose from walkable dinner spots like Zuzu, Torc, Angele, Grace’s Table or Celadon.

Insider tip: Matthiasson requires an appointment — book early to secure this special tasting.

Day 3: Three vineyards, three unique experiences

Just some of the gorgeous greenery at Hudson Ranch

After breakfast, kick off your wine adventure at the elegant Domaine Carneros with a sparkling wine tasting. The estate and the views are beautiful - try to go on a sunny day when you can sit outside and take it all in!

Then, visit Hudson Ranch, a biodynamic winery and farm set on a stunning, scenic estate. If you have some time, you can explore the property and even meet some of the animals they have there.

Wrap up the afternoon at Artesa Vineyards, where striking architecture and sweeping views set the stage for a tasting of Spanish-inspired wines.

After a full day of tastings, unwind with a relaxing in-room dinner back at the resort.

Pro tip: Hire a driver or car service today so you can fully enjoy each stop without worrying.

Day 4: Spa & celebration day

The pool and the view at Carneros

Start your final day with breakfast at Hilltop, or treat yourself to a memorable brunch at Boon Fly Café, a beloved on-site spot at Carneros known for its famous donuts.

Next, head to the spa at Carneros for some well-deserved relaxation. In addition to exceptional treatments, the spa offers access to a steam room, cozy indoor fireplace and a serene private patio — perfect for unwinding before or after your service.

Spend your afternoon lounging by the pool or strolling through the peaceful grounds.

For your final evening, enjoy a special dinner at FARM at Carneros, where elevated cuisine and refined ambiance provide the perfect ending to your getaway.

Insider tip: Book spa treatments at least a month in advance during high season.

Day 5: Departure day

A successful mother/daughter trip!

Enjoy a slow morning with one last breakfast at Hilltop (or go get some of those Boon Fly donuts!) before check-out. You’ll leave relaxed, restored and dreaming of your next trip back to Napa.
