I've watched YouTube videos about flight and hotel point redemptions to beautiful, luxury locations. I started getting into them and haven't regretted it since. Always trying to "ball out on a budget." Staying in a premium or luxury hotel always feels nicer when you didn't spend a dime.
The easiest way I find to get to know an area is by finding the best local and/or famous eateries. Eating local can always bring you closer to the place you visit.
