I believe hotels are more than just a place to lay your head at night and often choose hotels first and base my trips around them for my own travels. I write about hotels for a living, so I’m always on the lookout for undiscovered gems with a real sense of place. Although I lean toward luxury stays, I prefer boutique hotels, B&Bs, and rural/farm estates that have real soul and incredible design. I’m a big fan of slower travel and visiting places in the off-season when the prices are better and the crowds are low.
