I enjoy eating, traveling and eating while traveling. Based in the Pacific Northwest. I call Seattle home along with my wheaten terrier, Maddie.
SEA is my home base, but I feel I've arrived home every time I arrive at any airport.
My travel style
Relaxed type-B traveler here. I prefer to have only flights/train and hotel bookings, and a few restaurant reservations confirmed. The rest of my style includes sleeping in, impromptu adventures and checking out the local (non-touristy) food scene.
The Warehouse Hotel
A playground for design lovers, housed in three restored warehouses on Robertson Quay, with a rooftop pool lounge and modern Singaporean restaurant, Po.
Beachfront adventure property in Mexico with warm rooms and suites.
The Dixon, Tower Bridge, Autograph Collection
Grand redbrick property in a building from 1906 with upscale rooms and suites.
Recently returned from:
Eating my way through hawker centers in my free time on a business trip to Singapore.
Staying at luxurious beachfront hotels, having nothing to do but eat, sleep and relax over New Years in Zihuatanejo.
Relaxing on an eight night Virgin Voyages cruise through Eastern Antilles – I never thought I would enjoy cruises, until I met Virgin who does *not* have buffets or children onboard.
Wandering through London– spending too much money on chef's tasting menus but not regretting a thing.
Antarctica, for the wild adventure it would be!
South Africa, for nature, culture and wildlife.
Japan, for all of the sushi, okonomiyaki, ramen and curry.
Czech Republic, because one of the best meals of my life was in Prague.
One thing I can't travel without...
A list of restaurants or foods to try.
Two truths, one lie:
I took a two day cooking class in Bologna, Italy
I spent one summer creating and re-creating French macarons until I tweaked the recipe just right in order to get the correct outcome.
I like my vacations choreographed minute-by-minute, leaving little room for relaxation.
