My Story

A former study abroad coordinator who loves helping other people plan trips (almost!) as much as I love planning and sharing my own.

Travel Style

I love boutique hotels, restaurants and bars favored by locals, unusual walking tours, food and drink experiences, and unexpected gems. When I travel, bigger isn’t usually better. While “must sees” are fun, there’s always much more to a place. I enjoy a mix of both – while also having down time to sit and savor a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in a cafe and watch the world go by. I enjoy photography and look for beauty in unexpected places when I travel. This means, among other things, respecting local cultures and seeing the dignity and merit in everyday life. I love traveling to less visited places. I am a traveler at heart, a geographer by training, and compulsive about planning. I love putting all that together to help people create a wonderful trip, whether a short weekend getaway or the trip of a lifetime.

This was my first time ever using a travel advisor — I usually love planning travel myself — but work was especially busy and I didn’t have the time (or mental space) to do this trip justice. Working with Rachel completely changed my perspective on what a great advisor can do.

This was a trip for me, my husband, and our college-age daughter, and what really stood out is how well Rachel planned for all three of us. She didn’t just take my input — she clearly thought through the experience from each of our perspectives, which made a big difference in how the trip actually felt day to day.

Rachel ended up being the perfect balance — I could stay as involved as I wanted, while trusting her to handle the overall flow, logistics, and all the tedious pieces like transportation and bookings.

She was especially valuable in areas I didn’t have time to deeply research — especially accommodations, where I tend to get overwhelmed by location, amenity, and price trade-offs. She came back with a thoughtful, curated range of options across different styles and neighborhoods, and then helped me narrow in on what would actually fit our trip. I loved that she would bring strong options and let me react, refine, and shape the plan from there.

She also went beyond what I expected by helping us find a birdwatching guide in Valle de Bravo. It’s a niche interest of mine that I hadn’t expected her to cover, and when I tried to find options myself, I came up empty. She was able to source a fantastic guide through her network.

One of the most valuable things she did was help me not overschedule. I tend to want to maximize every moment, and she gave really helpful guidance on pacing — especially around dinner reservations and daily plans — so the trip actually felt like a vacation instead of a punchlist.

From a logistics standpoint, she made everything seamless. Having our card securely on file, transportation handled, and a beautifully organized PDF itinerary made both the lead-up and the trip itself feel easy and stress-free.

We’ll absolutely be working with Rachel again!

Rachel was supportive, knowledgeable, and an absolute delight. When I was anxious about rail passes she took the time to meet with me and walk me through what to do. Her recommendations helped plan out a smooth trip experience that relieved so much of my anxiety. She had great ideas for how to make the most of our trip. I would definitely recommend her services to anyone needing that extra help of turning a good trip into a great experience.

Rachel is the best! We met by chance while exploring Taipei on bikes and I knew instantly I liked her. Traveling with my mom was something I was unsure how to navigate given her age and some health concerns, but Rachel was very sensitive to that and that was evident in the suggestions she made, the activities she recommended and the Riad's we had to choose from. Rachel verified all our activities and sent follow up re transport to and from hotels which made travel days a breeze! She was also available to make changes to our itinerary while we were on the trip which made things easy when we had spotty service or activities planned. I felt a sense of relief going into the trip knowing that Rachel had planned the perfect mix of adventure and leisure with my mom in mind. So lucky to have met her and worked with her on our trip!
