My Story
My wife and I are experienced international travelers and photographers. We have published photo books and often structure our trips around photo opportunities. Because of this, we do in-depth research on the places that we are planning to visit with photography in mind. For example, we look at sunrise and sunset times, moon phases, popular spots admission costs and crowded times, transit options, and of course, local food and drink.
The level of detail that we put into our personal planning carries over to our travel advisor business. For example, we have recently informed first-time Europe travelers of luggage size requirements for European airlines, electronic entry requirements both new and existing, and walking distances from proposed hotels to major tourist or transit spots. We continue to travel and add to our personal knowledge with each trip.
Travel Style
We are casual travelers looking for photo opportunities and local stories. We prefer a quick hotel or cafe breakfast to hit the ground running in the morning. We will often get street food for our lunch and then enjoy a nice dinner before the hot tub/pool when we can get them.
We walk around 10 miles per day while traveling but at a leisurely pace. We enjoy National Parks and recreation areas as well as historic sites, particularly presidential libraries.
We are also somewhat spur of the moment. We traveled extensively before I became an advisor. I recall one Memorial Day weekend when a co-worker asked what I was doing. I said going out for Portuguese food. What she didn't know until I returned was that it was in Portugal.
