My Story

I’m someone who moves through life looking for stories, meaning, and connection. I believe people are layered and places are layered, and I like taking the time to understand both. I’m an avid reader, a mom of four young women, and a lover of history. I’ve walked like an Egyptian on the Eiffel Tower, ziplined in the forest in Guatemala, walked the roots of our government in DC, and explored most of the Northwestern United States. I love to pair my reading with my travels and often find that the two inspire each other. I flip through every travel photo of my friends because I’m so excited that they are having adventures out in the world. My favorite travel companion is my husband, but my craziest travel story actually happened with one of my best friends during a Paris trip.

Travel Style

I’m the kind of traveler who can usually be found in three places: chocolate shops, bookstores, and historical sites. I love tasting a place, reading a place, and understanding the story behind a place.

Before and during trips, I read fiction set where I’m going. It helps me feel the personality of a place before I even arrive—the voices, the atmosphere, the small details you might otherwise miss. By the time I get there, it feels a little like stepping into a story I already know, but get to experience for myself.
