Antigua is one beautiful island. I have to say, our stay winded up being amazing, although that’s not at all how it started off. My family and I first booked St. James Resort. However, this place was not what they had advertised. Unfortunately, it’s very outdated, our room had mold and many repairs were needed not only in our room but all throughout the resort. The sargassum was so bad that they were shuttling guests to 3 different beaches (30+mins away each day) from 10-4 and only 1 of the options was family friendly. Unfortunately, it smelled terrible from the sargassum all over the grounds! We waited over 45 mins to get burgers and the bar was “closed” in the middle of the day. We then ventured off to the pool area where we were told the guest used all the towels so there were none left. It was just not at all what we were imagining our for vacation. So after a few short hours, we realized we couldn’t do this for the rest of the week. That being said, I remembered seeing Megan Harris’ name on the Antigua Facebook page. I looked her contact info, wrote to her and within a few short minutes she not only responded but she called me and quickly came to our rescue! Megan was able to find my family and I two rooms at the Royalton, with some perks and for a great deal! She was truly our hero and saved my family and I big time. She also arranged for us to get a reliable ride (Del Taxi), to the Royalton. He had someone pick us up right away! All throughout our trip she checked in periodically and made sure all was okay, she truly was a lifesaver and I can’t express how grateful we are for HER! The Royalton was a beautiful resort. The grounds especially, were stunning. The whole resort was CLEAN and the staff everywhere was friendly and welcoming. They were very attentive and wanting to make sure that their guests were comfortable. The rooms were cleaned twice a day and the beach and pools were beautiful. The food for the most part was decent, but that’s as to be expected at an all inclusive. The entertainment was good, however when you go with smaller children my husband and I did wish there was something for them a little earlier in the night. Most of the shows, etc, started at 9:00 which is late for kids. Overall we truly enjoyed our stay at the Royalton and would visit again as our trip that we thought was going to be ruined, was saved by the one and only Megan Harris!
