My Story
I am an enthusiast’s enthusiast, and I’m after one thing: the authentic—landscapes, nature, culture, food, and most certainly wine. I like to joke that I never got over "show and tell” as a kid, and that’s why I love planning trips for people: “Check this place out. Go here. Meet this person. Order this dish.” Traveling with my wife and two daughters has always been a priority.
That said, wine travel is a particular focus of mine. As a professional wine writer for more than 12 years, Italy and France have long been my beat. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of stepping into some of Europe's most hallowed wine cellars and spending countless hours tasting and talking with the world’s top winemakers. My wine magazine, openingabottle.com, has a devoted following and—by popular demand from my readers—I’ve now become a Certified Travel Advisor to better serve them (and you) when it comes to planning meaningful vacations, whether wine-focused or not.
But I’m more than a wine obsessive. I am also an avid photographer, home cook, hiker, birdwatcher, mountain man, museum-goer, art lover, and aficionado of great patios. I focus on thoughtful pacing in my itinerary building, ensuring each trip includes the essential experiences without ever feeling rushed.
I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life, and have visited 16 countries (including 20 trips to Italy alone). I’d love to use that experience to craft a trip that feels thoughtful, indelible, and rooted in the things that matter most to you.
Travel Style
For me, nothing matters more in travel than meaningful connection—but that can take many forms: a hidden bistro with six tables, an artisan’s storefront you didn’t expect to find, a conversation with a local that stretches for hours, or an encounter with a rare animal in its natural habitat. I want to understand what meaningful connection looks like to you, then design a trip with the right rhythm to let those moments happen naturally.
Adventurous yet patient. Detailed yet flexible. I bring that balance to every trip I plan, so you can travel deeply without feeling rushed or over-scripted.
