I chose Costa Rica, and I lived in the country for a summer, attending an immersive language program, living with a local family and traveling on weekends with retirees who were in my class. I'm 47 now, but I'll always be that girl with her face pressed up against the window of the chicken bus, falling in love with the world, unable to sleep because I don't want to miss a thing.
