My Story

Tokyo-based world explorer with a passion for art, spirituality, and wellness—proudly traveled to 75 countries. Always seeking new inspiration and mindful journeys around the globe.

Travel Style

I’m passionate about sustainable and immersive travel, deeply devoted to spirituality, arts, healing, wellness, and supporting local communities. With a background in photography, journalism, and documentary filmmaking, I approach each journey as an opportunity to tell authentic stories and capture the beauty of the world. Having split most of my adult life between Asia, South America, and a few years in Europe and America, I bring a global perspective and deep curiosity to every destination. I intentionally seek out unique historical properties and culturally rich places, always eager to learn and uncover the deeper stories behind each one. My travels celebrate local arts and culture, spiritual growth, and transformational wellness retreats that radiate beauty and holistic well-being. Traveling off the beaten path, I delight in hidden gems and enriching experiences centered on plant-based cuisine. I strive for an ideal balance: weaving together meaningful indulgences, mindfulness, and personal transformation to ensure each adventure uplifts both myself and the communities I visit.

Irene was an outstanding travel agent—professional, attentive, and incredibly easy to work with. She handled every detail seamlessly and made the entire trip stress-free. Highly recommend her!

Irene was so incredibly helpful and I can't imagine planning a trip to such an unknown place. She found us the right places in 3 different cities (!!) that balanced our priorities in terms of level of hospitality, price, and convenience. She even helped us save extra when the prices fluctuated between booking and arrival! It was a great first experience with Fora and I'd recommend Irene to anyone going to Japan, especially for the first time.

Irene organized a multi-city journey through Japan for us that went far beyond what we imagined a “trip” could be. It felt curated, intentional, and deeply meaningful from beginning to end.

We traveled through several cities, but what stood out most was how she wove spirituality, culture, and authenticity into every step. From quiet temple visits and tea experiences to moments of reflection in gardens and lesser-known neighborhoods, everything felt thoughtfully layered. It wasn’t just sightseeing — it was immersion.

What we appreciated most was her depth of knowledge. She clearly understands Japan on a level that goes beyond guidebooks. Each experience felt purposeful. There was a rhythm to the itinerary — active days balanced with restorative ones. Even transitions between cities felt seamless and intentional.

Logistically, everything ran smoothly. Hotels were perfectly chosen for both comfort and atmosphere. Reservations were handled, timing was realistic, and we never felt rushed. We could simply be present.

She also has an intuitive sense for personalization. She listened to what we were seeking — something grounding, reflective, culturally rich — and translated that into real experiences. Very grateful.

The trip was organized by Irene Herrera, and Kanazawa was one of her strongest recommendations. She described it as a place that offers a quieter, more grounded side of Japan—where history, spirituality, craftsmanship, and nature come together without the crowds of larger cities. As part of a route that included Kyoto, Koya-san, and Ise, Kanazawa felt like a natural fit: slower, more reflective, and deeply connected to traditional Japanese aesthetics. It turned out to be a perfect pause in the journey, and it was easy to see why she felt it was essential to the overall experience. We were very pleased to work with her. She's wonderful!

We traveled as a family over New Year’s — which is one of the most complicated times to plan a trip — and Irene organized everything seamlessly. From hotel selection to dining reservations, transfers, and activity coordination, every detail was thoughtfully handled. The itinerary felt structured without being rigid. We had flexibility while still knowing everything important was secured in advance.

What stood out most was the level of personalization. Irene clearly understood our family dynamic and balanced festive events with moments of calm. Restaurant recommendations were spot on, timing of activities made sense, and nothing felt overly scheduled.

Communication was clear throughout the process, and we always felt supported.

It allowed us to focus on enjoying the experience rather than managing logistics — and that’s exactly what you hope for when working with a travel advisor.
