Our Story
Japan isn’t one of my destinations. It’s the only one. I came at twenty-two, learned the language, and built a life and family across the country, from a tiny southern island to the northern countryside I now call my second home. For years, I have shared the country I love through my writing, with travel pieces for National Geographic and Condé Nast Traveler and campaigns for the Japan National Tourism Organization and the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau. Now I do it as an advisor, one traveler at a time.
Travel Style
There’s the Japan everyone sees, and the one just past it, richer, deeper, more personal. That’s where I like to work. Whether it’s your first trip or your fifth, I build trips around what actually interests you. A family-run inn at the end of a road you’d never have turned down on your own. A restaurant the size of a living room, where you eat whatever the chef is proud of that night. A back street of old wooden houses and tiny storefronts, two minutes and a world away from the crowds. You get the depth of someone who knows the country inside out, and the ease of having a person who handles everything along the way.
