Love fine hotels but am almost as happy at any airport property with a runway view. NYC-born, raised in Japan, living in Sweden with three kids.
Stockholm ARN, which I wish was as nice as OSL (but it's still pretty good).
My travel style
On the road my main motivations are tasting food and seeing nature, ideally with a thoughtfully designed hotel thrown in. I'm drawn to remote spots (Greenland, Cape Verde) as much as the world's great capitals (Tokyo, Bogotá). In the end, what I'm after is a wide range of experiences.
Park Hyatt Tokyo
Best known from 'Lost in Translation,' but a showstopper in its own right thanks to the exceptional restaurants and unmatched skyline views.

Recently returned from:
Tracking lions in the Masai Mara, Kenya.
Helicoptering around the west coast of Greenland.
Planespotting and sampling local cuisine in Madeira.
Visiting a mostly tourist-free Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
South Africa with a side-trip to St. Helena.
Ishigaki at the far southern end of Japan.
One thing I can't travel without...
Two truths, one lie:
I once rode a camel into the Sahara.
I took a helicopter to visit a ruby mine in Greenland.
I went base jumping in Canaima, Venezuela.
