My Story
I am the married mother of two adult children and have always loved to travel. Fortunately, my husband feels the same way! Born and raised in the South, it is still the place I love living! As I am something of a foodie, I will always check on local specialties and read about restaurants in any place my client plans to travel. When working with clients, I believe in open communication and cooperative action. Confidentiality, a strong work ethic and the desire to do the best job possible motivate me to go the extra mile to ensure my client has the absolute best trip possible!
My Travel Style
I love all sorts of travel- both casual and luxurious! I have camped, stayed in rough-hewn mountain cabins and in luxury hotels. It is true, however, that the older I get, the more I appreciate not sleeping in a tent! My husband and I have walked the boulevards of Santiago, Chile and the beaches of Vina del Mar. We have toured the green countryside of Ireland, explored Moscow, taken the channel from England to France and enjoyed the Canadian Rockies while being pampered by Rocky Mountaineer’s gold-leaf service. We just returned from a trip to Costa Rica-a totally wonderful experience! We love domestic travel as well and are especially knowledgeable of NC, SC and Georgia. We enjoy the Colorado Rockies, adore Washington state and have explored national parks. We have taken a family cruise to Alaska with our children, as well as numerous beach vacations and camping trips in various locales. It truly is all good!

Barbara is terrific and very communicative. We love working with her. She even managed to get us a $25 credit at the hotel AND has them deliver a bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped fruit, cookies and pretzels! Yum!

Like with Florence, she sent many options based on our criteria and a few that stretched our usual taste — which we appreciated. She set up a few excellent experiences, especially the tour of the Jewish ghetto ( which I would highly recommend). She found another dining experience at a chef's home that was totally delightful. I recommend a shopping trip to high-end stores for fun or purchase opportunities. Unfortunately, there was no time to visit Prada, Tiffany's, or Dolce and Gabbana on this trip. As for Rome itself, part of the "charm" is that it is a bit chaotic; now, it has descended into chaos at some places where work is still being done for the Jubilee. Construction work is ongoing at all the tourist spots and St. Peters. They are also building a new subway line and expanding the airport. Roads are closed, making it more challenging to move around by taxi, dramatically increasing prices. I note these parts, so if clients were to go to Rome, I would carefully check the news. Thirty-five million visitors is a lot to contend with, especially for people who call Rome home.

Barbara helped me choose a hotel, and I chose the one where we stayed. Her biggest help was arranging transportation from Florence to Assissi and from Assissi to Rome.

This was our first time working with a professional travel agent, and we lucked out with Barbara. Since this was our fourth time in Italy, we were familiar with most sites and stayed in some nice hotels. We told Barbara what we liked and wanted to have in a hotel and location; WE were given many choices and could select our favorite that met our needs. She also arranged for tours that we could not have done on our own - from a semi-private tour of the Uffizi, restaurants, and the location of Christmas markets. Even when things did not go as planned - the private dinner at a Chef's house in Florence was nonexistent, Barbara could get us a full refund. She always checked in on us to see how everything was going - an example of excellent customer service.

Pura Vida! 10 Days in Costa Rica!
In late September of 2024, we took a 10-day trip to Costa Rica. While there, we spent time in three different areas — which spotlighted the diversity of the country. While diverse, all of Costa Rica was warm, friendly and truly embodied the spirit of Pura Vida, a national expression used as a greeting. By the time we left, we were wishing it on to everyone we met!

Washington DC- Made to Wander!
I have been to Washington, DC many times. We took our kids there when they were young. When I was working as a Business Recruiter, it was a common destination for me. I always liked the town, but this was a special trip for me- an opportunity to share it with my husband without being restrained by children or work commitments. . We had an amazing time!

Two Days in Wilmington, NC
I did not grow up in Wilmington, but I spent a lot of time there. Both sides of my family are from there. It's all about history for me — my personal history as well as history of the south, and indeed, US history. It is also a beautiful town — when you explore it, you will be reminded of two other southern cities: Charleston and Savannah. You'll remember the huge live oaks covered with Spanish moss, the palm trees and the closeness to water (ocean and river). Let me share this city with you.
