My Travel Style
A little bit of planning, a lot of room for the unexpected — this is how I like to travel. Ask me about my honeymoon in Morocco, which started with a five-foot-away encounter from The Pope and ended with a random Moroccan driving my rental car through the Fez medina.

Ashtin was very helpful on suggesting rooms that were within the requested locations and price-range. She was also very helpful on picking the better tour packages for visiting museums and walking tours, as well as flight planning. Ashtin was quick to reply and responded via text and Messenger.

I knew I could trust Ashtin to help us figure out everything we needed and to take care of any concerns along the way! I had never utilized a travel agent before and I will probably never try and book any trip without her, in the future! She was patient, very informative, and she’s an experienced traveler herself so she helped guide us in the best options that fit our wants, needs, and most importantly, budget. Everything was packaged neatly on a virtual itenerary, including links for our plane tickets, etc. Being able to break down the price with a payment plan was amazing and made everything so much less overwhelming because we booked in advance and could slowly chip away at the cost. As parents of 5, this was a big deal. I also assumed travel agents charged extra for their services and Ashtin does not. That was a big reason I have avoided trying a travel agent and I believe a common misunderstanding! If you’re thinking about it, just go for it! You absolutely won’t regret it!

Ashtin earned a Five Star Plus rating from us!! We couldn’t have asked for a better partner and guide in planning our first big European vacation. Ashtin utilized both personal experience and professional network expertise to help us create the perfect Italy itinerary. I ask lots of questions and love to understand all of the details, and Ashtin was patient and responsive, whether thru email or our conference calls. She was extremely thorough in getting to know our hopes and expectations, and she successfully incorporated all of our special criteria and wishes! She reserved the most special and unique lodging, and pre-arranged all of our train and water transportation, which relieved so much stress and anxiety for this first time traveler to Italy! Icing on the cake, she was personable and enjoyable to speak with! We will definitely utilize Ashtin again for future European travel, as we now have the bug!

The Classic 10-Day Andalusian Road Trip Itinerary
I'll be the first to admit that this 10-day road trip through the south of Spain will not even begin to scratch the surface of all that Andalusia has to offer. The Muslim, Christian and Jewish influence in the region has created an architecturally and historically diverse region that is home to so much more than just amazing wine and food. If you have the time, add a few days in each city or take time to stop at more off-the-beaten-path destinations. So, vamos! We're going on a road trip.

The Heart and Soul of Venice: Where to Eat, Stay & Explore
There is a palpable romanticism about Venice. From the moment you arrive, the sheer preposterousness of the city's construction makes every turn a mystery. The maze of thousands of cozy alleyways, each containing its own special boutiques, artisans and cafes will make you wonder how a city so impossible can remain so well preserved. A loose itinerary will allow Venice to charm you, just like she's charmed me.

Cultural Guide to Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
When you first arrive in Ubud, it will not take you long to remember why you decided to visit Bali in the first place; its natural beauty, deep cultural heritage and gracious and hospitable hosts are just a few of the many reasons why your trip to Bali will be memorable. Skip the gigantic swings (yes, you heard me - skip the swings). Instead, discover real Balinese heritage and culture through food, art and day trips to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Be sure to connect to the Balinese people who will make your visit truly extraordinary.

Two Weeks in Northern Morocco
Morocco is a destination that is tailor-made for the curious global traveler. Colorful medinas, diverse topography, exotic cuisine, historical richness and adventure await where the Rif and High Atlas Mountains meet the Mediterranean and Atlantic. Morocco is a five-senses spectacle. The rush of Moroccan cities, where the smell of mint tea and tagine overlay daily calls to prayer and busy medinas, lives in symphony with its soaring mountains, seemingly endless desert and postcard-worthy coastlines. Morocco is as mystical as it is magical. Come see for yourself.

When Food Is Culture: A Guide to Singapore
When I think about Singapore, one word comes to mind - food. To quote the late, great Anthony Bourdain: "What you do in Singapore is eat." Food is not just at the heart of Singaporean culture - it is the culture. Singapore is an intriguing paradox. The over-the-top indulgence and glamour of Singapore's downtown core and Marina Bay quite literally towers in contrast to its much more understated neighborhood hubs that are still destinations in their own right. My advice? Indulge in the over-the-top grandeur. Immerse yourself in Singapore's diverse Asian culture. And most importantly: eat.

Jackson Hole: Your All-Seasons Escape
Jackson Hole is having a moment. Urbanites like myself have long been lured to the mountain west to escape, looking for tranquility, connection with nature, and experiences that we can’t have in our concrete jungles. Each year, Jackson Hole goes through four major metamorphoses and emerges in each season as a new but familiar version of itself, beckoning visitors to be out of doors no matter what the temperature. Jackson Hole is an all-seasons destination that you should consider for your next getaway - cowboy boots optional.

A Long Weekend Itinerary in Tulsa, Oklahoma
I'll be the first to admit: Tulsa is probably not the first destination that comes to mind when you're looking for a weekend getaway. But allow me to make the case for why the shiny buckle on The Bible Belt is actually a little-known mecca for food + drink, music + art, outdoor activities, history, and hospitality. So dust off your cowboy boots and meet me in Tulsa. By the time you leave, you're all but guaranteed to have love for my favorite place in Flyover Country.

A Guide to the Pink City: Jaipur, India
Jaipur is a feast for the senses. Burn-your-face-off spicy food. Non-stop honking. A symphonic smell of smoke and curries fill the air. Trying to cross the street? Better hurry because tuktuks and motor bikes do not stop for pedestrians. But don't let the chaos of Jaipur deter you – The Pink City of India is an epicenter of arts, culture and heritage that will leave you wondering why it took you so long to visit.

A Guide to Winter Magic in Zermatt, Switzerland
Zermatt is one of the most magical places on earth. If you've seen "The Grinch", it's Whoville but in real life. Nestled in a beautiful valley in the Swiss Alps at the base of the famed and mighty Matterhorn, Zermatt is a charming town with a lot of soul. Zermatt is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise: world class skiing, hiking, alpine tobogganing and 8000m views await. Come back from your day of activity and treat your tired bones in the sauna at your ski lodge or enjoy a well-deserved beer at the local watering hole with likeminded skiers from around the world. Zermatt is a dream destination that keeps me coming back every December as part of my personal Christmastime pilgrimage to Europe, and it will keep you coming back too.

A Las Vegas Regular’s Guide to Food & Drinks on The Strip
There are a million reasons why I love Las Vegas. The main one? Stepping off the plane at LAS is the start of 72-96 hours of indulging in Sin City’s incredible food and drink scene. This is firmly a non-definitive guide to eating and drinking in Las Vegas because let’s face it — there is no right or wrong way to do Las Vegas. The food scene is evolving so quickly that it’s impossible to try it all. These are just a few of the places I find myself revisiting over and over.

A Guide to (Mostly) Key West
Ahhh, Florida. America’s #1 vacation destination. There’s a lot to love about mainland Florida, but the best of the Sunshine State lies south of the Florida peninsula at the end of Highway 1. Key West is the epitome of chill and oozes good vibes. There is a culture of open-mindedness that embraces all travelers just as they are, and that is what makes Key West special.

A Guide to Perth: Australia's Best-Kept Secret
When I tell Australians that my first trip in Australia was to Perth, the typical response is “why?” Perth may be the most overlooked destination on mainland Australia, but don’t let the distance and vast desert that separate Australia’s east coast from its west coast deter you from working Perth into your next trip to Australia. Amazing beaches, diverse and remote landscapes, unique critters and an ultra-chill vacation await in Western Australia’s capital city.

A Beginner's Guide to Luxury in The Maldives
The Maldives is heaven on earth. I was in high school when my parents put Windows Vista on our home PC and for the first time I laid eyes on the digital wallpaper called “A dock at sunset on White Sands Island in the Maldives” - a single dock with neon green lights stretched out the horizon, on the backdrop of a blue and cotton candy pink sunsetting sky. It was love at first sight. Paradise is found in The Maldives thanks to its pristine beaches, calm turquoise waters, amazing reefs, luxury resorts and its remoteness in the vast Indian Ocean. The rest of the world may as well not exist when you’re in The Maldives. It is the ultimate beach destination and the perfect place to indulge. Let’s get you there. You deserve it.

A 48-Hour Rendezvous with Mexico City
I wrote this guide as I was daydreaming in a café halfway around the world about a quick rendezvous to one of my favorite destinations - Mexico City (affectionately, CDMX). Let's be clear: this is a 48 hour guide to CDMX, but CDMX deserves as much time as you can give it. Sixteen neighborhoods coalesce to form a sprawling urban oasis that oozes cool with its food and art scene. This itinerary is a first person journey that you are invited on. A special welcome if this is your first time to CDMX. I promise it will not be your last.
