Like most of us, I love a relaxing, luxury beach vacation… but, I especially love the energy of a city, and not necessarily a big city (although, NYC has my heart). There are so many amazing towns all over the world with such incredible vibes – I’ve kind of made it my personal mission to find and enjoy them all. I’m always ready to pack up and head out to see the world. By that I mean trying new foods, drinking some wine, learning the culture and doing my part as any proud American fanny pack wearing mom-tourist. (Really, I just love embarrassing my kids).

I also love wandering aimlessly through new towns finding quaint cafés, coffee shops, antiques and thrift stores all morning; visiting famous landmarks till early evening; then ending my self-guided excursions at a rooftop bar to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail while chatting with locals or other fellow tourists. Sometimes, I’ll even talk my husband into dancing late into the night at a hidden-gem local dive that makes you feel like an honorary citizen since you made friends with the awesome bartenders back at that swanky rooftop bar ;).

PRO-TIPS: Make friends with the locals/bartenders/servers. Be kind and engage. You won’t regret it. When on a trip that involves lots of sightseeing, always build in a couple “free days” to stay up late and sleep in the next day. Fill your itinerary with lots of fun and exploration, but not at the expense of your stamina – take a nap!
